hi there, i play a wizard and a paladin on nagafen. ive been playing since the pvp server launch in february of last year.

there are certain aspects of this game i cant help find lacking. everquest 2 is a good game, but it has the potential to be a great game and it wouldent take much work aside from a change in the way things are done in future expansions and decisions.

below are my top 5 biggest problems with the game and how they can be made better so the game can be more enjoyable for everyone.

1. Raids; raids in everquest 2 are either too easy or too hard. some are so hard that they become unfun. for instance, after wiping enough in emerald halls (a zone which alone is a headache to clear) you lose hope in the game. some encounters in that zone and zones like it dont require so much of a strategy as much as a total dps burn before a huge AE or event. id like to see raids thought out better to rely more upon strategy rather than how much damage a raid can put out. raids are also too easy to access. in everquest 1 and world of warcraft, most raids require some form of flaging. very little flagging is required to advance in everquest 2, meaning there is no progression route only a simple lockout spread for all zones. not only are raids unfun, too easy to access and painstaking, there is also not enough of them. it is easy to get bored on content which has been completed. stuff which is too easy is too easy to get bored of, stuff which is mega hard to kill gets boring even faster. allow for more raids, better thought out raids and more strategy rather than more dps required.

id also like to point out that some raids are just plain stupid, such as most in freethinkers hideout. some are even more stupid made by the again dumbly required 'burn factor' such as cheroon in mistmoore inner sanctum.

2. Bigger zones, better zones; EoF was an expansion which catered to all levels. it added a new section to the game. this is fine, but it is becoming a pattern. the last 3 expansions everquest 2 has had have had 3 to 5 large outdoor zones (which arent even very large). some of the zones are absolutely garbage for pvp, like KoS and its cloud platforms. in everquest 1, there were many new zones in an expansion, zones to explore and have fun in. everquest 2 zones are small in comparison, zones which lack purpose and excitement. zones in planes of power had their own distinct theme and were talking 20+ zones of exciting content which kept people exploring for months because of an elaborate flagging system (see above). zones need meaning, purpose and theme, with these 3 things, the game becomes more exciting overall.

3. AAs; AAs arent really AAs. i consider AAs in this game to be a a choice to how a person would want to build their character in a unique direction. but many AAs are just totally bad and worthless. with little or no thought given to them. there is really only a couple ways to build your character in the end. most classes try to maximize what they specialize at, which means some AAs will always be ignored, especially on PVE servers where there is absolutely no reason for some AAs (aka wizard shielding line or sorceror stamina line) over other more obvious choices. AAs should be revised and improved. this alone would be enough to keep people coming back to experiment with new AAs which would help get money out of the economy and also is a relatively cheap way for sony to keep people interested in 'new' aspects of the game.

4. LONG WAITS BETWEEN UPDATES AND EXPANSIONS; people who play mmos are usually people who dedicate many hours of their week into them. sooner or later they are going to cap out in whatever they do. this was easy to do in KOS in raiding. in EoF it is way too hard to the point of absurdity. the point is, there isnt enough going for this game between new content to keep people here. many blue guilds complete the game again in only months after a new expansion, at least pvp servers have pvp to fill some of the void. new content needs to be added at a faster pace, create adventure packs faster and you will not only get money from people buying them, but you will keep money from people who dont cancel out of bordem. add more new content with live updates and consider doing some live events, if live events arent possible, GM events. hell, add new spells to the arsenal's of all classes every once in a while to keep people looking for new masters.

5. Class balance and usefulness; classes will never be perfectly balanced, but the way things are going now, some classes are clearly more cut out for their job than others. guardians for example are the best tanks, assassins better than rangers for dps all around, ect. not only that, but your most populated server; nagafen is suffering from pvp imbalance like ive seen in no other game. scouts own everyone and because of that, everyone makes scouts. resists are broken, focus is broken, magic skills are broken. basic parts of the game are broken and have been broken since pvp launch, fix this and you will have a more varied pvp environment with healthier pvp.

Everquest 2 right now has the potential to be the best mmo. with changes like the ones listed above, i have no doubt in my mind the market for everquest 2 could be doubled. its the choices made by listening to players like me which will make the game bigger and better.
