I'm a t a bit of a loss. When the everquest II launcher starts,  i log in accept the terms and the screen comes up to download. It scans the files and starts to download an update then says download cancelled and just stops there. I can't play or anything. Can someone help.

Click the teeny 'Download' button just above the character select drop down list.

I click it and it says downloading everquest2.exe_delta then says decompressing then immediately says download cancelled

I also notice that the login screen on the launcher comes up 2x. the first is the normal login, the second on the right of the "update"ing screen says current everquest players sign in here.. this never did that before.

<p>That is strange. Where are you downloading from? SoE should be your only download source.</p><p>You should login once, then get the download screen. You might want to call CS on this.</p>

very weird. i deleted the everquest2.exe and the patcher seemed to pull down a bunch of new files and it worked

Uninstall, reboot and reinstall the EQ2 software and try it again. If it still doesn't work.. disable your virus protection/internet security and try it. If it works at that point, it means that the setting in whatever security program you are running are set too high and need to be tweaked or disabled whenever you need to patch EQ2.

<p>If you have Vista installed on your system.  You must do the following anytime there is a patch:</p><p>(1) Turn of User Controls (From control Panel)</p><p> (2) Reboot</p><p> (3) Open EQII</p><p> (4) Download</p><p>(5) When it completes download, close EQII</p><p> (6) Turn on User Controls</p><p>(7) Reboot)</p><p>(<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Reload EQII.  You should be able to play now.</p><p>I had this problem, until I figured this out.</p>

Actually there is an easier way to fix the way EQ2 updates in Vista. Just run the game as an administrator. You can set the game to do this by right clicking the icon. That should fix it for good.
