>- extremely well at solo'ing By "extremely well at solo'ing", what do you mean? Do you want to solo fast and furious? Or safe and stable? Both are solid tactics and can be considered soloing well, but the classes that do them are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

>- highly wanted in raids I can't accurately answer this because I don't raid, but I'd say a DPS or healer class would be the most wanted.

>- definetely not a healer >- prefebly not a caster That limits you a lot. Tank classes aren't much fun to solo in my opinion, so that leaves you with scouts and bards. All of them are good choices, and it depends on whether you like more DPS or more buffy goodness. Maybe start with a Dirge (though a Troubador might be better for raiding), and move into a Swashbuckler or Brigand if you want more oomph.

You may have to compromise on some of those points I think. There's a class list here which may help you.

Extremely good soloers: wizard, conjuror, necromancer, illusionist, fury, bruiser are usually among the top listed. However, that's 3 casters and one healer, and the bruiser is not a particularly valuable class on a raid.

Highly wanted in raids: dirge, coercer, troubadour, illusionist, all healers are usually on the list. Dirge and troubadour are OK soloing but I wouldn't call them "extremely" good. I soloed my dirge to mid 50s without any problems, but you're not going to be soloing named. Illusionist is a great soloer but a caster, which you don't like; coercer is very difficult to solo (though powerful if you do learn to do it well) and a caster also. And healers are obviously out.

Sooo .... I think you're either going to have to compromise on the strength of soloing, or the desirability on raids. Overall I'd suggest you're looking at a scout class of some type. None are the "best" at soloing but they can all do it. Both the bards and particularly the dirge are very desirable on raids, the other 4 scouts are reasonably wanted since any DPS is generally good, the brigand might be a slightly better choice due to the debuffs which can be handy on a raid. I'd say pick dirge or troubadour if it's more important to you to be absolutely wanted on raids; pick one of the other scouts if it's more important to you to do high DPS and solo a little better. And maybe consider an illusionist if you want an easy soloer that's also desirable on raids, and you can stand being a caster. Whichever you choose, making your way through the solo quest lines is a fast and easy way to solo for any class which will get you lots of achievement XP along the way even if you're not the most brilliant soloing class.

Not a healer is easy enough. Preferably not a caster puts a bit of a pinch on. The casters are generally the best soloers. If you're looking for a great soloer that usually means not so great on raids. Generally speaking the classes that suck the most to level up because of group dependency are the most wanted. That being said. Conj and necro are great soloers, but they're casters. Wizzys are warlocks are also good soloers, but again casters. And I believe the enchanters are pretty good at soloing and also really rare, this makes them wanted...but again, caster. For the scouts its basically based ENTIRELY on equipment. I have a 67 assassin and hes OK at soloing. I dont go looking to do it, but if i have quests to do it can be done. But his equipment is pretty good and he has 9 masters, so hes not the average. My neighbor is a brigand and he solos quite well. But, hes got some of the best gear in the game and every master but 1. My buddy plays a troubadour and he does solo a lot, but from what he tells me its hell. I also have a 70 bruiser who I haven't played in probably over a year. Back in the day he was a ridiculous soloer, but dont know how he is now. He could also tank for groups. For raid wantage I'd probably say enchanter, bard maybe, or brigand.

i think troubadour/dirge sounds great.. i think i'll go with that route.. thank you

i've been reading the class forums, and it seems that the troubadors are pretty disgruntled.... is that a reason for me to be a dirge instead?

So in any forum you tend to see the issues and complaints highlighted. For every one disgruntled person posting on the forums there are probably 100 happily in game. That said bards sound like a good choice for you and dirges seem to me to be somewhat more desired in groups/raids than troubadours. And dirges definitely have a better FAQ, which I highly recommend reading - it's what sold ME on being a dirge when I was trying to pick one. I've never regretted it! I did find bards were a bit underappreciated at lower levels but the higher level you get, the more loved you will be, and on raids people fight to have me in their group! From the FAQ: Q. I'm trying to decide between a dirge and a troubadour. Which is best? A. You've GOT to be kidding. Dirges sing dark, profound songs that remind us that life is short and death comes to us all, and there're just a whole lot of directions you can go from there; ranging from: 'Live for today because tomorrow we're worm-food' to: 'Life is real, life is earnest, and there's a horrible beast just over yon hill let's kill it' to: 'We all die and I'm depressed but isn't this black eyeshadow and lipstick just coool' to my personal favorite: 'All the good-looking High Elf paladins are taken and tomorrow we may be dead, so let's make fun of the troubs.'. Troubadours know one song that goes ‘la-la-la-lally / down in the green valley / I met a young shepherdess / and got into her pants'. They claim to know lots of songs but it's really all just the one. This is fine for the shepherdess but rough on the audience. What, you meant in combat? Oh, sorry. We're both centered on making everyone else look better than us. Both have the only song that the other classes really know about, the one that improves power regeneration. Dirges can steal health, fear the target, rez; troubadors can steal power, can charm and mez, and can sing a health-regen group song. Dirges are oriented to buffing melee, troubadours to buffing casters.

You might want to consider Brigand/Swashbuckler.

Since everybody has different playstyle it was easier to level up my Assassin than my Dirge.

But I enjoy playing a Dirge more.

This does not exist. If you take out the not a caster part Illusionist would fit the bill.

Try a brigand. Great stuns/DPS for soloing, great debuffs needed for raids and they are pretty rare (on my server anyway) so CAs most likely won't cost much.
