This morning we released an update to our Authentication system, and along with this change we resolved several outstanding issues on the site. Here are a few of the highlights:

We have made a Change to the links on the Launchpad. As part of our new security system, passing authentication from the launchpad into eq2players has been removed. Because of this, we removed the links to paid features to prevent people from being prompted to pay for a service they are actually paying for. The exception to this is Guild Chat – because so many people use this link from Launchpad, we have decided to keep the link there and have it prompt you to log in again in order to use it.

Kill vs Death Ratio on PVP Leaderboards has been removed – to return when it is functional.

Guilds with Custom Domain websites will no longer display as N/A on the profile, search, and leaderboard pages.

XML for the Guild Roster should now be properly formatted.

Users with no characters will be less likely to see broken links in the left nav

Media Gallery should no longer prompt users to log in

Server and Game wide discoveries are no longer reversed on the Character Rankings page. (Sigs coming soon)

Login Errors should now correctly explain what the error was.

Artisan Level History should now display the date you gained a level.

Item Search results will now correctly display slots, instead of class.

Lots of tweaks to improve flow and usability, especially in the leaderboards area.

Lots of localization tweaks, especially for the germans.

Lots of changes to prevent users from seeing pages prompting them to pay if they already have.

Known Issues:

The Level History is showing an error for people from merged servers.

Most Status Leaderboard shows guild level, not guild status.

Localization issues from some locales prevent page from loading.

Fae show as Qeynos faction.

Guild Search always shows LFM as True and Alignment as Exile.

Game-Wide and Server-Wide Discoveries are switched in Signatures, and may be switched in other places.

Servers which don't exist anymore show up as "No row" errors in Level History and Item Discoveries.

Some EOF Factions Missing.

Some links to the My Leaderboards section do not maintain character Id.

Character Skills are off in several ways, particularly Tradeskills.

Secondary Tradeskills do not update when you switch.

Most Master Abilities leaderboard returns no results.

The Rares Harvested rankings do not match the various leaderboards.

<strike>Unique Guild Members column is sometimes inaccurate. </strike>Should be resolved.

<strike>Some titles contain meaningless strings. </strike>Should be resolved.
Thanks for the update, Jabru!

Great news about the guild XML feed...I can hear the various Roster Master developers squealing in joy from here. LOL Putting the character ID back in will also help immensely. (And if we could get the quest count back (in the XML feed, at least), I'd be your best friend...)

I'm curious as to what you mean by "internal guild rankings," exactly. Is that something like the way the roster could be sorted before, or is it a separate leaderboard-type thing?

I remember back when "Forge" was the NPC with the most kills...ah, those were the days!

So when is EQ2Player going to be backup? And did someone forget to announce that it would be going down? Took awhile to find a backdoor to login to the forums to post this.

No back door necessary...the forum URL will always work, unless of course the forums are down.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/

I almost never go through EQ2 Players to get to the forums; it's usually the other way around.

Getting to forums was not the problem. Logging in was the problem. " SIGN IN/CHANGE USER" would bring up the login dialog and then when you click to submit, it would do nothing (waited 5 min).

Ah, I see...I didn't have a problem getting to the login page, so assumed there wasn't a problem with the process itself. Mea culpa.

Same here. Looks like fix #1 broke the login to guild chat. Anybody able to login to guild chat from the game launch pad, since that is what they were changing?

There is currently an issue with Guild Chat. We know what it is, and the code is in testing with QA. We will push it once we have signoff, it will probably be tomorrow. Included in that push should be an additional change we have made which will hopefully resolve the issue some people have had where Guild Chat never works for them. We are sorry for the inconvenience of the service being down today, and appreciate your patience.

Thanks for the update, especially with the broken XML feed. However, as the author of one of the guild roster parsing tools, this XML feed is still of no use to me, due to the missing data: - CharacterID (right now we are forced to parse the HTML code itself to retrieve it, and pray this HTML layout doesn't change) (we need this to generate an URL that points back to the character complete bio on the EQ2Players site, and it also guarantees an unique ID) - Lastname (this is available in the old XML feed) - Number of Completed Quests (also available in the old XML feed) Is there any technical reason why you can't just take the old XML generator and use it on EQ2players? I understand that would also require updating the CSV generator to match the available data, but better to have one of the two than neither of them for the time being By old XML feed, I refer to this link, as an example: http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...?guildId=783104 Right now, we (the authors of the various RosterMaster variants) are forced to rely on hand-crafted HTML parsing to retrieve some of the missing info. In fact, if we want to obtain all the available info, we have to parse all three sources: - The old XML parser (for lastname and number of quests) - The HTML page (for characterID) - EIther the new XML feed or the CSV feed (for the Joined date) It would make our job a lot easier (and our code much more robust) if you could aggregate all this (already available in various places) data into the two official feeds (XML and CSV). Thanks

Seagoat wrote:
I'm curious as to what you mean by "internal guild rankings," exactly. Is that something like the way the roster could be sorted before, or is it a separate leaderboard-type thing?
In prior versions of the EQ2Players site, when you logged in and looked at your guild page, you could click "Most quests completed". You would get a list of everyone in your guild, how many quests they had completed, and where they stood relative to each other. Four or five other stats resulted in leaderboards with internal guild rankings for those stats. My hope is that SOE restores the lost functionality (and soon).

Login to EQ2Players. 2. Go to Leaderboards. 3. Under "Custom leaderboards", select Guk, Swashbucker, and Most rares harvested. 4. Find Janthia (at the time of this writing, she is #35 with 212 rares). 5. Now look at her stats: http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...terId=125589101 The 212 rares matches, but the Guk/Swashbuckler ranking is #502. So, please tell me: will we have to pay extra (as part of the guild package of EQ2Players) for those "enhancements" you are considering, or will every user be able to access them?
Is the ability for someone other than the guild leader still on the table for managing the forums? Seems kinda pointless to have an 'admin' category, if the person can't admin the boards...

My ranking for Total Status Earned (by class) appears to be broken now. My server ranking is LOWER than my worldwide ranking??? To clarify, I am better compared to the entire EQII world than I am compared to only my server. This should be a mathematical impossibility, no? The error does not occur under the "all characters" columns, only under the "berzerker" columns.

Some things to add to the list.

Under the guild profile, average arena kills shows 0, despite having regular guild activity in the arena. This is the same for total arena kills.

Under guild leaderboards, the same problem exists in that only a few guilds even show up on the boards for arena rankings. This may be part of the update problem on the leaderboards, since it displays correctly on the guild profile.

My artisan level and history is only showing levels 22 and up.

My graphical achievements page displays correctly, but the textual view shows me as having spent 106 points.
Since the last post, SOE decided to fix the update system. I can only assume they decided not to say why it wasn't updated because to admit too many repeated errors for the exact same feature might cause one to question whether they were really supplying the service we were paying for.

I hate to tell them that the pages upon pages of posts detailing how people were not only canceling service, but posting about how they were canceling service, says everything. I think the candor Jabru has had in the last month was a step in the right direction. Might as well admit mistakes in the open at this point. Open communication might save you a few customers.

Anyway, the real point of this post (ranting aside) is that the individual character rankings page is still off for class rankings of total status earned. Thanks to the updated leaderboard info, I can see that the particular number that is wrong is the server class ranking. The leaderboard seems acurate. My character's ranking page, however, is displaying my ranking as 32x what it actually is. I'll keep playing with numbers when I go up in rank, to see if I can pin down a pattern as to where this number is coming from.

Another definite bug that is now verified due to the leaderboards updating:

Some guilds with custom domains are still appearing as N/A on the leaderboards page.

The only guilds that are showing as having a website and not N/A on the leaderboards are those ending with eq2guilds.org, everquest2guilds.org, or eqiiguilds.org. Guilds with no websites show nothing and guilds with custom domains show N/A.

Still broke, please add back to the list.

Another bug.

The Arena Champions leaderboards have option to sort it by server and level. However, as soon as you do so, the leaderboards remove any reference to the original purpose of the leaderboard change to display rank (which is completely inaccurate, unless you consider alphabetical order a ranking system), Name, Server, race, class, and level. It removes all of the arena fields. This happens for both server sorting and level sorting. Also, once sorted, you cannot fix it by sorting again for all levels and worldwide, as this returns no search results. Hence, sorting feature completely broken. This is true for all 4 arena champions leaderboards.

Please add to the list.

Please make the Total Status Earned row actually display what it should display, the Total Status Earned for the lifetime of the character.

It would seem that once you spend status points, they are no longer seen as "Status Earned" by the system.

If it is not intented to display this, please change the row Label to something more appropriate like "Current Status Held"

If you paid attention to any of the threads over the last six months on this board, you'd have noticed that with regards to getting this site fixed I'm on your side.

That being said, you seemed to be confused about where these numbers were coming from, so I told you. Especially since you implied that you thought it was personal status you currently had and thus subject to going down if you spent it. Don't shoot the messenger, please.

However, I do agree that this should be relabeled to "Guild Status Contributed."

BTW, I noticed that the web team expanded the details displayed on the Arena Rankings tab on our character profiles. I very much like. However, there are some meaningless strings underneath each pet name.

More importantly, can we add the number of wins vs total number of games played? Or at least just total number of wins? There is currently no place either in game or on the site where you can find this out. And I know the game keeps track of this number because there are rewards associated with it. Besides, it's not always about your # of kills in the arena if your team always wins.

Here's another for the list:

"Items Discovered - Global" and "Items Doscovered - Server" numbers on the guild profile page are showing the rankings for these categories instead of the actual number of each type of discoveries. Please add to the list.

It's been over 30 days since we last heard from you, Jabru. Not to mention we are nearly halfway through the month of May and are still under the April thread. I know you must be tired of hearing it, because I'm tired of saying it, but a little communication on a regular basis would be nice.

I hope you don't think that by not posting for a long period of time that I'm going to stop posting new things that need to be fixed with this site.
