View Full Version : Best Solo healer class?

Hi all. This has probably been answered a zillion times so my apologies if I missed it... I'm a bit new to the forums, though i've been playing EQII for about a year now.

I started out with fighters at first because I figured that would be the easiest soloing class, and I usually prefer to solo or play in small groups of two or three. I don't raid at all... yet. Then I moved on to a conjurer and a wizard, both of which I enjoy and don't have any trouble soloing.

For my next toon I'd like to try a healer of some sort and the only reason I haven't yet is because I'm ambivalent about the soloing thing. Can a healer solo well or will I need to be ready to do most of my playing as a healer in a group?

So I guess my questions is this: What is the best class of healer for soloing with the occasional group play?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

>Can a healer solo well or will I need to be ready to do most of my playing as a healer in a group? Any class can solo well if you adjust your definition of "well" to suit the abilities of the class. Expect your fights to be longer but more stable, with success against stronger mobs often depending on how well you ration your power. If you're used to a Conjuror or Wizard, you'll probably get frustrated with how slowly you progress while soloing. That said, you should also try out group healing. It's a lot of fun.

>What is the best class of healer for soloing with the occasional group play? Probably a Fury or Warden, with a slight emphasis toward the Fury because they can do a bit more damage per nuke than Wardens.

I did a lot of soloing up to 70 with my Inquisitor. It wasn't that bad. At least it didn't seem too bad at the time.

Now, I've been working on and off with a Warden who is currently in her 30s. I can tell you that the Warden seems much more easier to solo. The Inquisitor felt more durable but Warden just seems more fun solo.

Now, I'm spoiled with my Warden. She can port, massive run speed boosts with my AAs and have a nice root spell.

Druids have gotten a lot of love.

Much as I love my warden and, if I could re-roll her would still choose warden, furies are better soloers. Fact is fact.

I think Furies are bound to get nerfed. . . eventually. I have 11 characters (on two accounts), with 3 priests, and my Fury is easily my best soloer. Granted, I specced her for DPS and soloing but, even so, it did not reduce her effectiveness as a group healer. My Defiler, however, is easily my best group healer (though he rarely heals) -- even better than my Templar -- but they are both terrible soloers.

I use the nerf bat to rub up against or scratch things.

Well I am a bit biased but I think that Inquisitors are a great solo healing class. Have played mine for almost 2.5 years now and at lvl 70 about 70% of her xp is from soloing. Now by soloing I hope you mean killing solo mobs-not whacking Heroics with impunity, but when it comes down to it, she does pretty good. With the use of plate armor it lends a lot to being able to take the dmg, as well as the reactive heals and the heals over time make for a pretty managable solo career. I know everyone thinks Fury or Warden but since I have never played one- I couldn't tell you. I do know that my 29 Defiler is not bad either, but thats as long as you can keep the wards up and not run out of power before the mobs die.

Anyhow that is my 2cp

My gal uses adept III's and masters and can't come close to what a fury can do vis a vis damage.

furies definatly solo better with all of there nukes but I like my warden better. It takes longer but I like the way he buffs for mig and everything and I can just cast those dot heals and take my sweet time hacking and blasting.

I have way too many alts, but from playing several classes, I would have to say that Furies are the best soloers, but are at the bottom of the list for getting groups, simply because there are so many compared to other healer types.

My warden and templar can get groups much easier than my Fury, even though my templar's solo skills are pretty pathetic.

As far as soloing, I find the fury the most fun to solo with, most fun to duo with, and easiest to level.

Didn't they make all the healers equal?

Obviously not. (I'm not a bitter ex-templar. honest)
