EQ2MAP is the most brilliant SOE-okay add on for the game out there. If you don't have it already, download it now...by my command!*

*okay, only kidding, I can't command you to do it, but I strongly urge you to!

I get lost, often. For me EQII would be totally unplayable without my annotated maps. LOVE this program!

I'm one of those guys that can get by with out maps just fine, but even for me this is a beautiful addition to the game. Like I can remember my way through dungeons by remember directions at intersections, but when you look at the map you might realize interesting things like left, left, right that takes you to the room you want to go to also has a wall that is directly next to another room of interest. Or when I'm running through exterior zones I find my way around with zone wall or points of interest, but when looking at a map I can save time by running directly to the place I want to go. No matter who you are, this program is an absolute must have.

It is just a modification if the in-game map system. That is the beauty of the UI. They made it so you can mod it, hence all the UI mods available out there.

Heh yeah i use the maps but sometimes i can memorise a zone so i stop using my map there but it is a great add-on

It seems my lack of directional sense extends to imaginary worlds as well. Thank the gods for the EQII Map tool and that pretty glowing trail... LOL

I didn't d/l the maps program because I didn't really understand what it was at first. When I did install it, I found it to be far better than I had ever imagined.

Players who recommended it in game made it sound as if the main reason to use it was for dungeon maps (stuff like the down-below, where the map defaults to the EQ2 world map). I didn't think I needed it because I had already printed out maps from gamepressure and was able to find my way around just fine.

But the EQ2 maps include lots of great features, such as markers for where quests begin, markers for where specific mobs can be found, and even individualized red dots labeled F2, F3, F4, etc. for the various members of your party. It's very nice to be able to tell at a glance just which player is out of range of my heal spells. The program is so incredibly useful that I still can't believe it's free.

I give it 2 thumbs up, and I'm thinking of exposing myself to radiation just so I can give it 3!

If you look at the January 31 patch notes, you'll notice they even mention fixing a bug that was making the maps not always work right in the add-on. I'd say it's pretty approved if they're fixing bugs for it. . .

I would love to do this, but looking at the d/l instructions makes me think its complicated to get it going? i've never used mods before, thats probably why it looks intimidating.

Just follow all the instructions, in order Seriously, its very easy to use.

This is by far the best mod in the game.. Sony should just buy it and incorporate it as part of the game. It's worth every single minute you spend trying to figure out how to install it.

Agreed this is by far a MUST HAVE for every player of EQ2. The fact that the dev team allows us to use it speaks wonders for the selfless time these guys have put into these map systems and their POI's. Thank you to all the creators of EQ2MAPS!

Do we have a date on the Hole map yet? I know some people are mapping it. Also the current autoupdater does not run the new patcher. If any of you eq2interface.com peeps read this please pass along the message. I'm too lazy to jump in your forums because I forgot my password and would have to go thru hoops.

Also, does anyone know how I can get EQ2MAPs to work on testcopy server?

Bol2 wrote:

I would love to do this, but looking at the d/l instructions makes me think its complicated to get it going? i've never used mods before, thats probably why it looks intimidating.

Easy, eh? I have tried and tried to download the auto-updater. wouldn't work. found another link to a differant d/l of it and tried that and at least this time i got a window with option, but it wanted the path the the eq2 folder. after hunting for it I discovered that the folder was empty, no .exe, nothing. Perhaps because i joined thru recruit a friend and the game files were all d/led through station launcher? no idea, but sooooo frustrated with this

First, EQ2.exe is the old patcher. It's what I use, but if you use Station Launcher or Streaming Client, you won't even have this file. The actual game is EverQuest2.exe. Because of the unnecessary complexity of Windows Vista and Windows 7, plus the introduction of the Streaming Client/Launcher, there are many different folders where EQ2 can be located. If you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7, your first step is to search for the file EverQuest2.exe. You may need to change options to search in hidden/system folders. By default the streaming client installs the game to c:users\AppDataLocalLowSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II Streaming These threads might be worth reading: http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/...ead.php?t=13798 http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/...ead.php?t=13649

If it's set to "EQ2.exe" for example, the folder will appear empty unless EQ2.exe is present. So you need to pick the one your installation uses.

Not sure why you had problems downloading it, it was a simple click for me. Maybe there were problems with the site when you tried?
