Question about CC in Bonemire and general soloing.

My problem first of all is that my guild lacked a coercer and couldn't find one. This raised the issue and eventually I leveled one up to 70 to fit the need. Since my server population (like most I expect) is in the 60's, getting a group was very difficult. It's not like anyone ever wants a coercer sub 60 anymore these days for alt groups etc. So most of the time I two boxed or was in guild groups. Once I got in to the 50's things picked up and I started to really play the toon.

I still don't however understand the solo potential or even the mechanics of how a coercer makes a decent solo class muchless be capable of soloing instances like the Nest. I'm currently AA spec'd (63 AA's) for raiding with the Agility and Stamina line, as well as the mana tree line. He's been a nice addition to our raids and instance groups. Like I mentioned, I'd still like to learn to solo and play the character better.

First thing that comes to mind is the whole Corpse Candle discussion I've read about. I went to Bonemire and got one the other day (Adept III charm) and it appeared no different than virtually another other pet I've charmed. Battle went as so...

1) Charm Mob

2) Mob Runs In

3) Mob starts getting the crap beat out of it by the same level mob so I root target , start my stuns and damage.

4) Mob dies and pet is at half health.

If i wouldnt sit there and stun/stifle the entire time my pet would have dropped in no time. The fight did not reflect anything like I expected it to after reading about the whole CC thread. What am I missing here?

Secondly, for soloing instances (Nest For Example). Is the basic strategy to go in and mez the whole encounter (say for one of the group encounters with the first real named after Switch etc). Grab a mob as a pet while the others are mezzed and beat them down one at a time? Then stun and stifle the named while your pet (if hes even left) takes the named? This would be painfully slow and boring and Im not so sure one of those pets would even stack up against the named.

Can someone address these two points? I really would love to learn to play this class better outside of raids (buff bot) and Instance Mezzing. Hopefully I can get some constructive advice.

Thanks

When I'm in Bonemire using corpse candle/ corpse flame pets the /pet ranged command gets alot of use. Make you a macro to set on your hotbar for /pet ranged. Chain the mob you wanna fight, use your /pet ranged macro, click for the pet to attack and then just stand there and watch your pet burn the mob without it taking any damage.

For instances like the Nest it can go pretty quick with the right tactics. One is good if you are Erudite, then you have Aura Vision to see what mobs are mage or priest type pets. Everything else is just about experimenting and finding the right tactics.
