my group is trying to do "Training is a shield" heritage quest. The last step is to kill emperor Fyst but he won't show up. anyone know the trick to this? has the zone changed? I know there was going to be a zone revamp, has it occurred already?

Yes, there was a zone revamp in LU 33, about a week ago.

Before the revamp, you had to kill all the nameds in the zone to make Fyst attackable. The last named was tricky, because he was one of the spectators on the left side of the arena, and you had to use AoE to draw him out.

Haven't been in the zone after revamp, though.

To spawn fyst you have to kill every named in the zone and go down to the arean, he then runs away to his throne and he is attackable (can go to arena bottem first then finish off the other named mobs too)

Not sure if this has changed since the revamp but after you have killed every named and entered his room, you must get the door to close behind you before Fyst will become attackable.

One tactic I have seen used a lot when fighting Fyst is for the whole raid to fight from one of the corners (to give you breathing room between add spawns).

If everyone runs straight into the corner then the door will not close behind you.

Every member of the group needs to approach the ledge where Fyst is before the door will close.

Every named must be killed first. He is no longer a raid mob. Moritcus was going to fix the named alchemist that had a charming bug. If he hasn't yet, that is the biggest hurdle to get past. Fyst appears at this chair outside on top now.

Alchemist Yallessul is still TOTALLY bugged, we killed every named in the place but everytime we tried to fight this NPC half way through the encounter the NPC would reset to 100% health...it was unkillable. so we couldn't get fyst to spawn.

EQ2 PLEASE fix this bug.

From what I understand you have to kill all Named NPC and then Fyst will now be available for ownage.. However, thats what we figured when we tried the quest so we decided to kill every named in the zone (good to have a scout with ya). We killed everyone BUT the alchemist but we couldn't kill that Named as some glitch kept making it teleport and reset to full health over and over. Bugged...so we gave up on it.
I've done DFC twice SINCE the revamp. We killed all the names, went to the arena, killed the first named in the arena, and then sat around waiting for Fyst to show up like before the revamp. After sitting around for a few minutes, someone actually read the dialog and realized they moved Fyst to the top of the citadel, near the throne. Sure enough, we went upstairs and there he was. So the short answer to your question is, you probably already spawned him, just go look in the right place

lol...nope we went to the arena and Fyst shows up in his "box seat" and says a few words about how his arena champion is gonna "pwnd us", we then proceed to take out the arena champion and then nothing else happens so then we went around and up to his chair (up top outside) and there was nothing... so then we were like...what the heck, so figured we had to wipe out every named. So back to the alchemist, we tired several more times alchemist wouldn't die, would get about 40-50% health and suddenly it would run back (sort of teleport back) to the caldron in her room and be back at 100% health... totally bizarre.

We will run it again in a few days and kill all named including alchemist if we can, then do arena champion and see if perhaps that changes things.

Morticus said the fix would go in yesterday (Tuesday) Still went in with only three people, Guardian and Templar mentored to a 50 Fury. We charged the Alchemist and he did get all of us charmed and reset. He then immediately aggro'd and I finally did not get charmed and we burned him down pretty quickly considering I blew my 4.5k 9 sec stun Brell miracle on the first effort.

And yeah, Fyst spawns atop the Citadel now

But the cauldron area geometry is a little buggy. Luckily we had a GM show up in about 15 minutes to get my g/f out from between the cauldron and the platform after she petitioned.
