I have just recently started playing Everquest 2 and was just curious if it is more beneficial to keep all your characters on the same server or not. I started on one server and decided to try another character but try another server so see if more people were on that server. Now I am curious if the fact I have characters split between servers is bad or not. Thanks in advance.

Due to EQ2's unusually low numbr of characters permitted (6 per account), it might be more interesting to keep all your toons on the same server. This permits you to share things (Like adept 1's, ressources, crafts) between your different toons. Plus it is easier to get involved in a guild if all your toons are on the same server.

Well, as a player that spent a fair bit of time 'server hopping' in order to find one that had a decent number of players on the same time as me, I'd say your best bet is to roll a few low levels toons on some different servers to get an idea of which server you'd be spending your time on.

I had 6 toons spread over 4 different servers at one stage (1 pvp, 1 roleplaying, 2 on one server, 2 on another server).

Once you have figured out which type of server you prefer (pvp, roleplaying, general), and have found a server with a decent number of players online at the times you want to play then delete your other toons and focus on building up toons on your perfect server or servers if you like more than one.

As a newbie to EQ2, it took me a while to decide what type of server I wanted, and then took even more time to find a server to suit my timezone.

Have a read through the message boards of each server in the forums and ask questions for any info you need - most players are happy to give you more advice on if their server is for you.
