Switching character between servers.

A long long time ago way back in 2004, back in the days when you got to ride on Captain Vargos' boat, I bought the collectors edition of EQ2 and got a pet baby dragon with it and happily set up a nice looking High Elf Conjurer and carried on playing, with my pet dragon safely tucked away at home in my inn room in Nettleville (when it used to be a Hovel). I stopped playing for a while and when I cam back, I set up Apinia on Permafrost who got into the game far more than my other toon ever did, and I also have other toons on Permafrost. How can I get my dragon etc to Permafrost toon? I am guessing the answer is, you can't as its a no trade item. I am assuming the only way would be to switch the toon to Permafrost. The old server (can't remember which one, might be Butcherblock) isn't a PvP server, nor is Permafrost, if that makes a difference. If this is possible, how would I go about it, and what are the likely costs incurred.

Soon there will be a free server transfer period for PVE servers apparently when the PVP servers get their transfers so i'd wait for that.  The dragon is not no-trade by the way..

Thats cool, just need to make sure I am paying attention when its announced, otherwise I might miss that week where transfers are free.

Any rumors about merging servers?  I play on venekor and wonder where everyone is alot.
