Hi, I would like to change my combat class, which I know you can do by betraying Qeynos for Freeport.

However I wonder if you get the chance to do this also if you betray Qeynos for Kelethin, and if that is the case, where do I start this quest?

Since I really prefer playing on the good side, if I have to betray to Freeport I would like to do this with the minimum negative effect on my relationship with Qeynos, I am curious whether it is possible to start working to get back Qeynos faction right after I have been exiled (and still being able to change class) or what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To just go live in Kelethin you don't have to betray, but you DO have to betray if you want to actually change your combat class. There's a couple things to highlight here:

you can only switch to your "opposite" class. If you're a neutral class, then you can switch to your opposite and remain a citizen of the city you started in. However, if your "opposite" is not neutral then you can't stay in a city that doesn't accept that class. Neutral pairs are fury/warden, dirge/troubadour, guardian/berserker, and wizard/warlock. If you're currently a Qeynos citizen and you're NOT one of these classes then you have no choice but to go to Freeport.

if you ARE a neutral class as listed above and you want to stay good (either in Qeynos or Kelethin) then you can do the start of the betrayal quest, get kicked out of Qeynos, then turn around and go straight back in. You never need to become a citizen of Freeport at all.

the betrayal quest is in three parts:

1. get kicked out of home city: you will become an Exile, based in Haven, all 3 cities will hate you.

2. do a series of faction quests to convince one of the cities to like you again

3. once your faction is high enough, do a final series of quests within that city to finish up.

when you finish step 3, your spells will all be reset to Apprentice I, and you will select your final class (if you're a neutral class, you get to pick which to become - if you're not a neutral class, you don't get a choice). For example if you're a dirge and you betrayed Qeynos and returned to Qeynos

from start to finish the betrayal quest takes probably 6-8 hours, depending a bit on your level, class, and which quests you choose to do for it (some give more faction than others). It is soloable, though you can get friends to help in parts too.

Hope that makes the process a little clearer. For reference, the class pairs are: Neutral: fury/warden dirge/troubadour guardian/berserker wizard/warlock Good/Evil: templar/inquisitor mystic/defiler monk/bruiser paladin/shadow knight ranger/assassin swashbuckler/brigand conjuror/necromancer illusionist/coercer You can only change to your opposite class. The evil classes can never be citizens of Qeynos/Kelethin, the good classes can never be citizens of Freeport. Neutrals can go anywhere.
