As a conjuror, you have several choices of diety available to you:

Mithaniel Marr

Tunare

Quellious

Brell Serilis

Solusek Ro

Most conjurors go with Solusek Ro, as his followers get bonuses to their spell damage. However, some people choose to go against type, and get something that is more roleplay oriented.

Tentonhammer has a listing of all the diety quest guides here. They also have listings of miracles and blessings that can be purchased by worshippers.

The quests will eventually reward you with a diety pet (you've probably seen them; little wisps, lions, imps, mummies...) that buffs some of your stats, and a decent cloak. You also receive an altar that you can sacrifice items on to gain faction. The faction is used to "purchase" blessings and miracles. I've only got one character to that point, a Tunare worshipper, and the blessings and miracles are mostly related to improved healing for short periods of time.

Lore-wise, in EQ1, short races worshipped Brell, some monks and erudites worshipped Quellious, Marr was a priest/paladin god, Tunare had the elves, and Sol Ro reigned over fire, so wizards and mages (roughly the same as an EQ2 conjuror) worshipped him.

Brell and Sol Ro are considered neutral gods and can be worshipped by evils as well. The evil-only gods are Cazic Thule (who had dominion over the Iksar), Innoruuk (primarily dark elves), and Rallos Zek (some barbarians, ogres, and I think trolls?).

Overall, I don't know all about what god is best for what class, but what I do know generally:

Tunare is best for healers

Quellious is good for controlling aggro (not gaining, losing, so not tankish)

Marr and Zek for melee types

Sol Ro for damage casters

I've heard differing things about the others, but since I have no personal experience with them, I can't really comment.

You can!

There is a NPC at the dock in butcherblock that will direct you to the different NPC's for each of the different gods. As a conj, you would probably lean towards Sol Ro. All his bonuses compliment your class well.

If you're planning on doing any crafting on your newly rolled toon.. don't overlook the advantages of Brell. Some of the blessings & miracles can make your life as a crafter a lot easier.

My Fae Conj went for Tunare as that was the logical choice for a Fae. I have gone through the first 2 quests and haven't really used to much advantange, so may renounce and go to Solusek Ro for the damage. I was thinking I would be able to heal my pets more but it looks like only really helps my health. But you can go one way and then change your mind and start a new one pretty easily.

You could always betray and choose Innoruuk. I'm not biased or anything, though!
