I do not want voice packs of any kind downloaded to my machine in the future. How can I stop this. If there is no way to stop voice packs from being downloaded, even the basic ones, I will cancel this account and delete the software.

Please advise.

Soren

I can't even imagine why you would feel so strongly about voice packs but if you don't want them then simply disable the option under the Preferences tab on the patcher. You have the power so there's really no need to threaten canceling your account over such a thing.

And if your that hellbent against voice paks, then you should be able to change the option as mentioned, delete all your current ones, then the patcher will download the very basic ones for the game only. I'm not sure which ones it requires, the only draw back would be if some large file was required, re-downloading it would be painful. There are quite a few that are in the 10meg plus range.

But serious, why the voice pak hate? One of the few features that made this game stand out on launch.

Thank you for the advice. I hope that you will forgive the tirrade. Voice overs, for my part, add nothing to the game. They are nothing more than fluff that chews up disk space needlessly. True though it may be that the size of my disk is such that it will never be a concern, I detest them none-the-less because - in my experience - the more files present on ones machine (as well as thier size) the more overall performance suffers.

In the end, it is needless fluff that I feel will impact the overall performance of my machine and I simply prefer that they not be on my machine. I have done as you suggested, as I have done before, to no avail. Therefore, I will be cancelling the account when finished with this post. The game is simply not worth the hassle for me. It is not that good to begin with.

Thanks Again, Soren

You can select the Options button from the PLAY screen and turn off any portion of the patcher download you want except for the files that are required to play the game.

No, it did not take me 2 years to decide this. I left the game 2 months after it launched due to reasons that need not be explained here. Upon returning about 3 months ago I found the game in better shape. I have not had trouble with Voice Packs up until recently because I did not notice them being downloaded during patches. When I did notice, I attempted to stop them in the manner you suggested. It did not work. I have even deleted those files from my machine, disabled the suggested options from the preference's tab and still they download.

Hence, I came here for advice. Your advice does not work, therefor I have made my decision on what to do next. Which is to vote with my wallet.

Soren
