What exactly causes this to go up? I've been very drunk for an hour and nothing then today, with no alcohol effects whatsoever on my character, I get 2 skill ups. Anyone help?

what type of drink do you have? (the regen power kind) You can gain tolerance from the various alcoholic regen drinks (they do not say anything about it). This seems to cap at 25 skill after that you have to get drunk.

You have to actually consume them to get skill ups. They don't work like normal drink. There is no practical use for them, yet. EQ1 has at least one raid encounter that utilizes alchohol tolerance.
Am I right in thinking that alcohol in EQ1 used to give you Str bonuses

There was an Alcohol Tolerance bug for a few days. Besides myself, I know of two other guildies that were affected. I completed the two Brewday quests. Despite being sober, I would often get an Alcohol Tolerance skill-up when zoning. I probably got about 10 skillups this way. This hasn't happened in the last couple of days, so it's probably fixed.

It was to my understanding that alcohol tolerance helped in the resistance against poisons and disease. Just makes sense to me... fill yourself up with alcohol and become a drunk....

Does alcohol(in eq2) give you bonuses depending on how good your Alcohol tolerance is then? The higher your skill rating, you are able to resist the negative effects and gain a postive? Or is this sending a wrong message to real world players, and thats why theres no benefit?

The only benefit from high tolerance is that it takes more to get drunk and the effects dont last as long. About this Oakthicket@Permafrost wrote:
There was an Alcohol Tolerance bug for a few days. Besides myself, I know of two other guildies that were affected. I did figure out what was causing it. I was using Gin and Tonic drink (regen NOT alcoholic) and this was causing the skill up. As I said before this does happen with the drinks that would be alcoholic in RL (there are wines as well). The gains seem to stop at 25 skill. After that you have to get drunk from alcoholic drinks to gain skill.

Lots and lots of time spent fishing drunk in EQ1 to pass the time...LOL.

It would be cool if there were chests with similar traps in EQ2 so it actually would help you in some way...but alas.
