<p>In the sinking sands on my server there is a guy who goes around 24/7 harvesting ore from the rocks, anytime I am out there questing he is going back and forth no matter what time of the day it is I am out there. I have been told, if true, this guy is a plat farmer.</p><p>Here is what I don't understand...</p><p>The concept of a plat farmer is to make plat, now I have gone around harvesting many times looking for rare cobalt...etc. because I am a weaponsmith, in 2 hours time I am lucky to find one or two rare cobalt's or other rare items. These rare cobalt's go for around 80 gold to one plat, so he essentially makes 2 or three plat every two hours if he is lucky.</p><p>But as he runs around he passes up every shiny (collectible) on the ground, for the last week I have followed him around and picked up every shiny. In an average two hours I find at least two spouts, one or two shiny green locust, one or two yellow sands and a host of other things, when I sell these items I make about 8 to 10 plat. I do this whenever I am low on funds.</p><p>So if he is out there for the plat, why does he pass up the big money items?</p><p>Even if he creates items with the ore he still only averages about 4 or 5 plat.</p><p>There must be more to it than just plat, but I can't figure it out....</p>

It's probable he's running scripting software. Writing a script to track down and harvest nodes reliably is easy and the income stream is predictable. Collectables, not so much. If he's continuously following the same path and is harvesting so quickly that he's making it difficult for anyone else to get that kind of node in the area, especially if he's doing odd things like not responding to /tells at all and always stopping directly on top of the nodes, /petition him for monopolizing content. If he really is running a script, the GMs will be able to tell from their side. I wouldn't petition them every day (unless they're making it purely impossible to harvest in the area), but it may take a couple for it to get routed to a US GM.
