View Full Version : The dual-core speed exploit rears its ugly head again

Perhaps this belongs in the Nagafen section, but as there are 570+ results returned when the search criteria for "dual core exploit" are entered, and none found regarding an SOE official stance on the exploit, I felt it applied to all the PvP servers. Does the company have an official stance on this? Is there a server-wide fix on the way? Could there be something added to the filescan to check for the patch in the event that the players pc is running an AMD dual core proc? Because if SOE's not planning on addressing it, then why, aside from the "I'm a loser and need every edge to play" factor involved, doesn't everybody who did do the right thing and run the dual core patch voluntarily just wipe it and start from scratch? I mean, hey, who wouldn't like the ability to run away from a fight any time they want, or deal out damage faster than your opponent can evac his party? Right?

Summed up, I'd like to get an answer, one way or the other, are there going to be repercussions for the cheaters, a solution to the problem, or is it just going to be another example of the good guys (both Freeps and Q's) getting hosed? It's a great game, please don't let it go the way so many others have by ignoring a major flaw.

The did a fix for this months ago, if the issue is occurring again it probably needs to be /bugged as a new incident. If you search the forums there is a huge thread concerning this and the precieved fallout for normal users. Running a intel core duo and a AMD X2 processor and not noticing anything to tell you the truth. If they did do a filescan for the patch there would be much screaming and wailing on the forum about violation of privacy, since it lives outside of the eq2 directory

I searched, but after perusing the first page of I don't know how many, I gave up and changed my search criteria. I found no mention of a fix. I'll see if I can find the guys that I saw doing it, and /bug it. They should be easy for anybody on Nagafen to spot. It's 6 guys (well, 1 guy, 6 accounts all names beginning with Love*** and in the guild Crank, definitely a childish nod to speed) all level 50, 6-boxed and all created on March 10th. 2 and a half weeks, and half a dozen guys ramped up to 50, must be some sort of record in having no life at all. You're probably right about the whining that would ensue, but as one of the guys that patched it up after finding that there was a fix available, I'd gladly put up with the whining. I doubt many that don't exploit would cry for long.

Speed hacks and warps arent necessarily dual core related. There are many much easier ways to warp tbh.
