Hi everyone.

I just bought EoF and am returning to EQ2. I left for Vanguard and have been extremely disappointed by it. I will never take Eq2 for granted anymore after playing that crap of a game. A few questions remains as im patching...

1. How is the state of the game in regards to community. Is the servers still lively or is everything a ghostown?

2. What are the big changes post EoF in regards to pvp and class balancing

3. Is kalethin a neutral city?

4. Which server is better to RP in Venekor or AB?

5. How are Wardens and Dirges in PVP and solobility

I would also like to some advice as to which class is best suited for me. I will be soloing most of the time due to work and family. Also I would like a class that can stand on their own two feet when it comes to 1v1 pvp.

I still play Wow for my brainless action fix but I'm an old school RPer at heart and EQ2 to me has always been the best community for that. The main reason I left was because of Vanguard (terrible mistake on my part) and also because of my computer specs when ran Eq2 horribly at times. Now that I have upgraded (8800 GTS) I feel EQ2 will be more enjoyable than ever. Hope to see you all soon.

Welcome back! I can't answer all your questions, but... Community seems fine to me I'm on Nektulos. Kelethen is a goodie-goodie city.

I am told that Venekor is a ghost-town, though, and if you want PvP that Nagafen is your best bet for population. Can't speak from experience, but that's what I've heard.

2. Only changes I've noticed in PvE is that mitigation went up and avoidance went down with EoF changes, but beyond that haven't noticed much.

3. Is kalethin a neutral city?

Kelethin proper is a "Good" city, but most of the guards are non-aggro even to FP toons. Which server is better to RP in Venekor or AB?

Never played on either. I'm told Venekor's pretty empty, though, while AB is on of the highest, if not the highest population server out there. People from AB say that RP tends to be pretty rare there also, though.

5. How are Wardens and Dirges in PVP and solobility

Dirges are loved for group PvP, but rumor is that not so much for solo. Wardens are well loved all around, and I'm told can be rather vicious in solo pvp also, but since I don't pvp, that's all hearsay.

I would also like to some advice as to which class is best suited for me. If you're willing to make the effort to get enough aa's, I'm told that inquisitors rip it up nicely in pvp too -- but they're heavily aa dependent, so I'm told it's kinda frustrating until you get enough aa's to help.

I play avidly on Venekor, so I can educate both the OP and previous poster at the same time. Venekor is hardly a ghost town. PvP is very active in all the combat strategic zones. And, there are raiding parties organized daily if not several times a day. Naf seems to like to recruit a lot on our server forum.. never played there.. but, if that's any indication of a "best bet", then I believe you were misled. As far as class balancing goes.. I just started playing EQ2 in September so I'm not aware of any long term imbalances.. just opinions from other players which of course vary from person to person and completely based on what class they play. Comparing Venekor to AB in terms of RP is sort of a wierd question. Since Venekor is PvP/RP and AB is PvE/RP. When it comes to class.. you should choose whatever class you have fun playing. But, that's just common sense in any MMORPG. Unless you're one of those "I must win at all costs" sort of people.. then I'm sure you'll get exactly 24 different opinions on the subject.. and yah.. that's not a coincidence that it is also the number of classes available to you.
