Which would you take? The Claymore ? Or the Qeynos GUard Shield. I've only Tarinax left to kill and trying to decide....

it kinda depends on how you are specd....

...but id take the Qeynos Guard and put a +1% chance to block adornment on it

The Shield. The Sword is horrible, not to mention you can get Two Handed weapons that are just as good out of Labs.

Take the sword.

It was a tossup but they improved the sword when EoF came out and now it's much better than Rak'leklo.

The shield is not a bad choice, but most of the people I knew who took it don't use it anymore.

I also find myself using a 2h weapon a lot more often than sword and shield.

Gaudralek's basically just as good as the Qeynos Claymore, and that... drops out of lab. Shield for sure.

I prefer the Sword myself. Encounter procs are not that common, especially among 2 handers. Of course, I DPS more often than not, and it's nice with spell crits.

The EoF prismatic should be rewarding yet another weapon, as lore would say the Qeynos Claymore is one of 2 swords. Personally I'd take the shield and hope the EoF line has a badass 1-hander to choose from. 2-hander weapons are a dime a dosen, decent tower shields arent.

If your clearing DT you may as well shoot for Prides Edge (2-hander), which drops from Fitz.

Take the shield. It's spell reflect proc is unique. True, a lot of people don't use the shield all the time. However, against caster mobs its the best option. Also I suspect since you are asking this question the shield is going to be a considerable upgrade for you. The only reason to take the sword is because it looks nice. (Note : the shield looks really nice, too). With avoidance being what it is and frankly 1H weapons that do just about as much dps as the claymore 2H it's just a waste. Who wants a 2H sword that procs when you get hit!?

However I tend to use the Claymore a lot more often than I would use the shield.
I gotta ask though what 1h weapon does nearly as much damage as the Claymore? By my math it averages 48 dps + 17 dps from the proc and that's assuming you never riposte. I admit there's probably a 2h weapon that is better but I don't know of one right off.

If my healers are up to par I will even tank with the Claymore, the AE procs help me keep aggro. When I do a breakdown of my DPS Claymore Divinity is right under Slashing and Brimstone as my biggest DPS producer. I took the shield, although it will soon be shelved for that legendary kite shield that is spelled B'rixxxx something. Doesn't have the mit or as high of a shield rating, but it has a daze and hate proc... the daze WILL land on epics, although a reduced duration and a 6 second immunity. Here is the beauty, it will proc 50% of the time when you block an attack. As a pally if you went down the block AA line you should easily be blocking 20% of all attacks. That means on 10% of attacks your shield will proc a taunt and a daze on the mob.
