Can a wizard use ranged weapons?

<p>I can buy and equip things like "throwing knives" and such but can't seem to use them. I thought it was because I needed to by a "bandolier" or something to equip in my primary range slot but I can't seem to find any that I can use. But if a wizard can't use ranged weapons, then why am I able to purchase and equip throwing knives?</p>

Ok, I'm willing to admit that it's probably a stupid question but.... anyone? Bueller? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I'm not new to EQII but I *am* new to the wizard class. Just wondering why I can equip throwing ammo but I'm not able to use it. Should I post this at the newbie forum instead, I wonder?

no, you cant use throwing stuff. anyone can purchase the ammo, but not everyone can use it. you can, however, equip just about anything that goes into your secondary slot in your ranged slot. (no, not everything. almost everything)

New wizard here also, appreciate the question.  Also when equipping say a throwing hammer that has +20 to crushing, does this translate to our staff crushing?  Yeah I know wiz dont melee, just curious.

the above posters question is a good one. i'd like some info if anyone can test this. would definately add to my accuracey and on attack proc triggers as im a low level and dont have spell proc gear.

no, the stats on thrown weapons only effect the thrown ammo.

<p>or....  you can be a freakn genius like me and buy 1 deathfist citadel arrow that has +1 str put it there and actually get some use outa that slot + 1 to STR woopie but hey better than what you got outa it.. nothing and 1 arrow cost like 15s so its more than worth it.</p>

aye, you can equip symbols into your sec and ranged slots. you can place any ammo into your ranged slot, but you won't be able to use it. as already mentioned, the best choice for your ammo slot is one of those burning deathfist arrows (with the 1 str), since that is the only available stat item you can put in your ammo slot.

Hey, Am I an idiot or what? I thought you COULD used thrown weapons, you just have to use the RANGED combat icon. Not that it was ever that big a deal, but thought I remember doing it at lower levels for fun.
