Hi guys , was reading the post on the Topic " How do I maximize my DPS "

got some awesome advice there , thank you , but i got a question.

When you guys say you need to time your Auto Attacks with your CA's , thats where my noob [Removed for Content] gets lost.

I have all MasterCrafted Gear , with exception to a few legendary ones, my bow is Mastercrafted longbow , use shortbow for a while, but was told longbow was better. Oh and i am lvl 62, sorry , Now my question is the delay on my bow is 7secs. ( i think ) i am asuming that means 7 sec. delay in between auto attack, correct?

So what you guys are saying is after the auto attack ( during the 7 secs. ) throw some CA's and then stop and auto Attack again and repeat?

Thats how you get your dps up? I tried that once or twice and well the dang mob was dead before my second cycle was complete. The casters killed it , and i was next to last on parse , right above the Fury, lol , i almost stopped playing. lol .

again sorry for the n00b question, I just want to learn my class well and be a great ranger, don't want to give the class a bad name.

That thread is mainly about raiding I'd say. Most rangers in raids are well buffed for haste, getting the bow delay down by half or more. Autoattack means alot more in raids as you generally won't have enough Ca's to get you through one fight (depends how fast the mob dies), som timing Autoattacks means more. In grous i'd say focus more on CA's as things will die too fast to both with timing.

if you type /weap it will give you your current actual weapon stats, including your actual delay; that's what you should use when determining your timing

Raid buffs will of course change this.

Basicly its like this. If you start off with your Auto Attack, then move to a CA... lets say you have 2 CAs that have a 2s cast. If you cast them back to back, you'll get 1 Auto Attack after the second CA cause 4s have passed since your first AA. However if you cast 1 CA, wait roughly 1s for your Auto Attack, use your second CA wait one second, you now just added 1 extra attack you wouldnt have got though spamming.

What you dont want to do is "queue" an Auto Attack, and thats more or less what happens when you queue up or spam CAs. Every time you delay your auto attack, you could be costing yourself additional auto attacks later in the fight.

Of course this is only really useful in a raid enviorment as heroic mobs die too quickly to really be concerned with peaking your DPS.

For when i become the best raiding ranger there is. lol. ( hey i can dream )

Thanks again guys.

I just wanted to point out that there is nothing really wrong with using auto-attack in a group setting. I find it excellent practice, and I parse high in groups... with Raincaller.

I just recently picked up the Torn Ligament bow...

I also have grizzfazzle and the poor 'ol ebony (mastercrafted). I use neither of these currently.

I am a bit old school, and I raid with the Ghostly Bow of Bylze (quest is Coin Operation: Sanctum of Scaleborn). I strongly recommend this bow. It'll grow on you.

Practice, practice... The sooner you start to use this technique, the more DPS you will generate... and that is something you can be proud of in any situation. Best of luck!

I will be rotating the Torn Ligament bow in a bit more... hoping for good results.

I will just offer some other advice... on the general topic of increasing your DPS...

Learn about which classes help you, and what group setups benefit you. There are PROCS and BUFFS out there to be had. And if you are able to improve your auto-attack damage, your procs will climb as well, and then you will have a case for asking for procs over other classes who may not get the most out of them. Don't be selfish... be gracious. And if you have a great group in your raid (I raid with a ton of tanks, and have had some pretty lackluster groups buff-wise compared to some of the other high parsing folks here), let the RAID LEADER know how much you appreciate it during the raid and again after. Let your groupmates know, too!

As most will agree, YOUR DPS is very much dependant on your raid/group. If you can break 600 on your own in a bad group... great, now shoot for 700.. and so on...

The one thing which will kill your DPS a fair bit, other than CA spamming - which is easy to slip into - is running HOs. I think SOE means to torture raiding rangers. So, if your raid requires HOs, you do your best... raids are more about teamwork than parses.

If you are in a dedicated raiding guild, then you certainly don't need advice from me. I raid in an alliance, and my groups change from raid to raid, with no guarantee that the people are well geared, or even sufficiently skilled in their particular classes. Do I worry about it? Not particularily. I like setting my own raid schedule. Bottom line is that you will have a very hard time being the highest parsing ranger on your server, without joining a top tier raiding guild or developping a nervous condition.

Before getting too far off topic, believe in yourself, believe you can be better (I see improvement in myself all the time.. .and not just from gear or AAs... , though allow yourself to appreciate those, too) and make others believe it! You will have a lot more fun, too.

Canul

<Renegades> Antonia Bayle
