Ok, I'm a lvl 48 Assassin working my way up to raid level. I'm not new to EverQuest II. I've played a monk up to level 44, and abandon EQ for a short while, but I came back with the dream of being a parse god. So of course I started an Assassin. I've been reading the boards since starting, and mapped my way the best way I could from the information I gathered here, and the ever changing world of EverQuest. I've Completed the str kos line dropping 8 in melee crits and getting the "perfectionist" ability, and with the new kos line; starting my way down int line. Haven't started with eof line till I max out kos (guildies shouting "that is the way it's done&quot And some way came out some agro beast no matter how much I de-hate a mob.

But that's not the reason for this post. I completely understand the difference between DPS and Haste... Coming for a brawler class, that's one of the major differences between monks and bruisers. Monks are haste based and bruisers are dps. But I was wondering about an Assassin... Haste modifies how many times you would swing, more swings would equal more times you proc, right? And using caustic wouldn't that equate more damage, than dps? Or would it be better to go dps for the auto attack melee increase???

So my real question would be, to gather as much haste equipment or dps???

well Haste items do not stack(minus the belt adornment). so dps is the way to go

The best an assassin can hope for is 25% ish HASTE from items 2 haste from an adornment, probably on a belt, and any one of the 20something HASTE items out there, such as the DT access reward, or Cloak of Flames 2 Haste Belt adornment and the 23 haste from DT access was the way I went, allowing me to have the Rallos Cloak too - you CAN have your cake and eat it I would defiantly recommend getting that haste, then working on your DPS 10 DPS on a neck item (such as the Mark of Awakened) and a mastered Villainy means you're going to be getting something like 79 DPS Self buffed -This is past the point of diminishing returns on the new curve, with the tool tip on my DPS now showing approx 75% DPS - working your DPS items past this point is probably not going to be that worthwhile End of the day, I find myself wanting haste buffs far more than DPS boosts - my self buffed DPS is more than enough, where as haste defiantly has a larger impact on my DPS, both because of the increased proccing and critical melee hits - Lots o' Haste with a slow delay weapon like GDOH is one definition of heaven.

i dont mean to nitpick... 27% (CoF or KCotW) is the best most scouts can hope for but 32% i believe is the highest possible for worn items. But the 30% haste cloak is from Mayong and will be a rarity to find.

The 23% haste item in question is from the DT Access quest line. It is a wrist (and neck?) item. Dont remember what it is called offhand.

It's called the Amulet of Forsworn. A decent fabled item besides the haste, worth getting if you can raid the mobs involved. I wouldn't want to give up my Rallos Zek cloak for a haste cloak. There is also a 23 haste chain gloves I believe from Nizara on one of the earlier nameds. (I think) Think it's the one inside the blade cloud.

FBSS with the Amulet of forsworn, that wouldn't work.

Proc effects from items i do believe will stack because it's a spell.

Only one effect from an equipped item with called "Haste" will work. It will pick the highest one. Adornments and spells/procs will stack. If there were an item which had a haste effect which was called something different it would work (I think).

There is a command you can use in game called /weap

/weap will tell you your weapons' real speed and damage. You speed is capped at .8 (decimal 8 seconds) if I am not mistaken. This means that no matter what your haste bonuses are, the maximum speed of your attack with each weapon is .8. Now in raids, most assassins are in groups that have huge haste bonuses and also have gear and self-buffs that push haste to a point that /weap will show a score of .8. It's my opinion that the assassin should focus on DPS bonuses.

There is also another 10 dps adornment for your bow now. I sit at 89 dps self-buffed.
