<p>So why cant they just ban certain domain names in the mail system ?</p><p>For example if the mail contains trade4games.com it gets deleted right there and somebody looks into it right away.</p><p>I get so tired of spam mail from plat sellers I allmost report myself when mailing stuff between characters. lol</p><p>I guess one small way we can pay the spammers back is to use their email to sign up for online spammers.  Let them have a taste of what its like to get endless useless mails.</p><p> If they can not get the spam under controll Im sure I will just go back to play offline only games.</p>

Those spams are so straightforward, plain Bayesan filtering would catch 99% of the current spams.  And unlike regular email spam, they can't avoid the filter by using embedded images, custom mailers and scripting tricks, so...  Guess SOE should swallow the pill, and devote some server resources to implement a Bayes filter. Allowing mail only from Friends list would be mostly useless, as many of us crafters need to be able to receive mail orders from (new) customers.

 There is a simple reason Sony does not try to stop the plat sellers, there making tons of money off of them! If you think that for 1 second, SOE is going to allow them to sell Sony's product, without taking a cut, you need to open your eyes. This would also make sense as to why SOE refuses to do anything about the spammers. There are several simple solutions to stopping them, none of which SOE is willing to try. I am like most of you, I have reported them, I have petitioned, I have tried every avenue SOE will allow to prevent this, and as you all know, to no avail. I wish there was a solution, but as long as SOE has their hand in the cookie jar, I can't see any hope for this ever to stop. After all of my futile attempts to get SOE to at least attempt to stem the flow of spammers, I have come to realize that there is no hope for us regular players. We will have to endure the endless interuptions, and no amout of complaining will help, the spammers and SOE are in league with each other, and the system is designed for them to profit. I wish this were not true, and if anyone has any insight on any other reasons SOE does not do anything about these locusts, I would love to hear it.

You may also be interested in a recent <a href="http://eq2.allakhazam.com/sdetail.html?story=9776" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">developer chat</a> where Gallenite spoke about the issue along with some things the developers have been working on to combat this problem.
