View Full Version : On PVP is it hard to level?

Hello everyone, I have been thinking of rerolling over on a pvp server. The question I have is.... Can you level normal like a pve server or is it just to hard to do. Example: pve server 2hrs to level your guy and a pvp server 8hrs from all the ganking.

it's not hard at all, most people shut off xp to slow it down because all the best pvp is in the early levels where the populations are high

get to 20th in saftey, then go to splitpaw.. you can avoid most gankage until you're at the level you want to pvp at.. then shut off xp and roll the enemy over and over and over

I level faster in PvP than I did in PvE. PvP experience is simply amazing, however its been almost a year since any of my toons have had xp enabled... so that may have changed...

on my 35 bruiser, I was locked from lvl 10 to lvl 33!, it was then I turned back on xp and leveled to 35 and 1%. If you level too quick you will miss so much that you need to get done, i.e. aa, max fraction ect..

The main thing is to avoid the mind set that you can just go to CL or Ant at lvl 10 and level up there. That will just bring on endless ganking. On the Freep side, I find it's easy to level in Serpent Sewer and then Edgewater drains. I've never seen a Q in Edgewater Drains and I've there with a lot of toons. One reason I prefer it to Splitpaw is that there are lots of easy quests you can do in both Serpent Sewer and Edgewater drains that give you lots of AA. Splitpaw has completely safe xp but nothing else.

Well, what I do is this: When I hit lvl 10 I (unlike most poeple) lvl untill i'm at least 12, just cuz I like having rare master crafted armor, and weps and I dont like to be lvl ten long. So lock at whatever lvl you like...pvp is mainly about having fun, and if you lvl to fast you miss out on ALOT of fun. Just remeber...you will die...you will die...you will die...everyone does. Whats the diffrence if its a mob or a player? A mob is brainless...You know whats going to do...how it fights and its weakness is always pretty easy to learn, but a player...now thats really fun...

but some people come over and get so upset over player death....I dont really understand why.... it does say; Player vs. Player.

Give it a shot...Once you play pvp...you'll never return to your other sever heeh...trust me.

you will probably take longer to level but at least its more fun. you are almost never save but that is it all about. the adrenalin pumping through your veins when beeing attacked is the best thing you can epxerience in a computergame. so give it a try, grow a thick skin and be patient. it will pay off

the best advice dont worry about leveling as much as having fun and AA. I have to say AA's can make a world of difference in pvp. Dont miss those quests or it will be painful in your later years. You will get outclassed by a green con with twink armor and lots of AA's. I have 45aa for my 42 swash and he can rock most yellows in seconds.

Make sure you roll your toon on Nagafen though. It's the busiest server for PVP from what I read. The rest are dying/dead.

Why is everyone giving this dude tips on avoiding pvp? If he wants to roll on a pvp server, then why encourage him to avoid it? PvP man, PvP! OP, levelling on pvp is a very different experience. My advice is to find a guild, and group where possible. Group vs group is the most balanced and exciting pvp. Roll solo, and you're open for gankage, then you'll get frustrated quickly. Dont level lock, that just promotes ganking lower cons with crap gear. If you level lock then do it for the purposes of finding gear, or gaining AAs. Those who lock purely to pvp are nothing more than scrubs looking for easy numbers. Hiding away in instances just means you get closer in level to those who PvP A LOT, but with little pvp experience..you'll find yourself out matched very quickly. Group where possible. PvP as much as you can. PvP combat is very different than PvE combat.

(this is exactly what i had my wife do...eqii is her first mmorpg, she never even played on a pve server, last night her and a guildee took out a level 50 something together (they are both in their mid thirties) and she came bouncing back to my office to tell me about it roflz.)

its doable, but will be a gameplay experience divergant from that of a pve gameplay experience in the same environ.

>> the adrenalin pumping through your veins when beeing attacked is the best thing you can epxerience in a computergame Totally agree. When I started I quested in fear... and it was great. Now I've learned with decent gear and some skill I can fight back and *maybe* survive, and MAYBE even win. And its really great. If you die questing, don't let it stop you. Get your gank on, and go back and complete your quest, bfd, its just a computer game. You'll get them in the next tier.

If you do the things you did on a PvE server then your going to have a hard time. You can't go into popular areas and just exp grind. Don't be in the mindset that your going to exp without getting attacked and interrupted. Be prepared to move around alot. If you stay in one spot your going to get ganked.

The added bonus of PvP while trying to level is the fun part IMO. Instances and out of the way places are your best bet. Don't forget though that you get good exp for PvP as well. One of my alt toons has leveled just on PvP once he hit level 10. Take your time and don't be in a rush at first. If you find your getting PK'd alot in one spot move to some other place and try it again later if you want. If you don't let the deaths get to you, just shrug it off and move on, then its alot of fun.
