couple questions for this line.

first: it seems that static discharge is the only ability that 'require" the 2hd staff. is that correct? will all the other abilities work without 2HD staff?

second: there is confusing info on cast, duration, & recast of catalyst. can someone provide SS so we can see for ourselfs?

Catalyst takes 1 seconds to cast, lasts for one minute, and has one minute recast. However, it will end as soon as you've cast a damage spell So you'll only get one guaranteed crit out of it.

1) Static Discharge is the only ability on the STR line that requires a 2-handed staff. However, it is completely useless and pointless, so dont use it. You have to move into melee range of a mob to be able to use it, and then it requires a 1.5s cast time to do a minor amount of damage - so basically it amounts to nothing but wasted dps. 2) Catalyst Target: Self Health: 17% Casting Time: 1 second Recovery: Instant Recast: 1 minute Duration: 1 minute Effect: Makes caster always do critical on next spell attack only. 3) WIS+AGI is better than WIS+STR for raw dps. The only downside to the use of the AGI line is that you will be using power faster (but since GU32 this is somewhat mitigated by being able to take sagacity too). Using STR instead of AGI will give you noticeably less dps, and will also give you a spikier damage graph (more chance to grab agro due to the hate decay system).

It depends what you're doing if str or agi is better. In really short fights, agi doesn't do much for you really. (i use agi for various reasons, but namely so things like root and hex doll cast faster)
Static discharge with 4 points has a potential of 2588 damage for 96 power, with 6 points 3008. That puts it ahead of such spells as irradiate, incapacitate, surging tempest, fiery convulsions, sunstrike, and very close to spells such as bol, iceshield Its as easy to position as Fusion, Firestorm, or Forge. I have a 2 handed staff and a 1 handed staff on my hotbar so I can click the 2 hander, click static discharge and the click the 1 hander to get back to freehand. Catalyst gives you a 1 minute window to cast in, but the recast clock starts as soon as you click it. A strategy that I use with great success is to precast catalyst so that the recast clock runs down to a few seconds, fire my fusion or nova, and catalyst is ready to fire again on the very next spell allowing me two guaranteed criticals in a row. Since the post has been hijacked by the AGI vs STR debate my summary is below. IMO: STR AGI Reason Static Discharge > Ambidexterous Casting 15 feet and 4 targets beats the hell out of melee and one Parry > Shift Momentum Give me defense or death, I ain't gonna run Spell Expertise < Spell Shaping Approx 5% more damage vs about 10% Catalyst > Spell Shifting Massive damage vs maybe getting to substitute a spell. Which is better depends on the Wiz using it.

agi is dependant on gear and group set up I.E. how much FT do you have how much regen in group how many proc for power or click for power you have. i think agi is great for grouping you cast faster so your not so dependant on the big nukes that cause aggro issues. agi's fine for raids with all the right stuff in raids but if you dont have all those tools to work with you'll find yourself out of power before you begin, in which case str will win out for you in the end. its really up to each to find out which build works best. i've tested both and found that the end results look very much the same for dps

I used to have STR / Wis and would have a hard time getting to 1k in raid parses. After the reset I went AGI / WIS down to both end lines. The first raid I did with that set up I easily got to 1k. It was a big difference. Manaburn was fun, but didn't give me the DPS needed.
