Nope. But you don't *have* to have the expansions to play the game if you don't mind not having AA or access to any of those zones that came with the expasions.

<p>Well, if you're not playing PvP there isn't direct competition so not in a direct sense.</p><p>But a character with a full set of Achievements is definitely going to have advantages over a character without, otherwise Achievements would be pointless.  That said, it won't make that much of a difference till you get to higher levels, and you'll still be able to play and enjoy the game fine without Achievements, they just give you some nice extra abilities that you won't have otherwise.  </p>

Yah, dont <i>need</i> aas to play well. You might regret not getting aas earlier if you wait up till lvl 50 to start with getting them though.
