I'm just kinda venting frustration here so please bare with me.

I'm curious if you other assassins are noticing the same trend as I am. How many times are you busting ur butt, and fingers, by giving it 100% each fight and nobody else is doing the same? For example, doing 800-1200 dps on trash mobs all the way up to the named while the other DPS classes are doing 400-600. Then, on the named, they pull a high DPS parse outta their butts. I've noticed this alot. I'd say 9 times outta 10 is the ratio.

Now, here's somthing really ridiculous. I always ask if the group wants to see parses. It's just to be polite and I figure other classes would care about it. Mostly, I get no for an answer. Sometimes I get rude responses such as, "No, don't post that crap". That came from brig I grouped with in CoV. The reason was that SOB pulled 400 DPS the entire run on trash mobs and didn't want the rest of the group to know it. Then on the named's parses a really nice DPS. It [Removed for Content] me off so bad I started posting the parses on the trash just to [Removed for Content] him off, embarress him, and let the other know he's not pulling his weight. It's just soooo typical.

Anyways.... I have a good feeling that alot of peeps sit back and take it easy once they get an assassin to do all the work. It's bad enough we have to work our butts off just to get the DPS we are capable of. Are you guys getting the same thing?

Like most postings in this forum, I will probably regret saying anything however...I'll throw in my 2 cents just because I can. *shrugs*

I suppose it's a good thing that you ask people before posting parses - I think it's silly for people to start getting rude about it. I always say "no thank you" and then that's the end of the discussion. Sometimes I like to know what the parse was, and I understand its validity in certain cases but beyond that I personally find parses to just be an unnecessary distraction. I know I perform well, it can be proven, but numbers just don't give me warm fuzzies.

To me it really depends on the situation - there are cases where performance of all the group members is the difference between success and failure so then yes those times it is necessary. Sometimes people here and there will slack - and some people don't play on the same level or have the same playstyle, they'll just want to relax, have some fun killing things and not want to get all hung up in the numbers. That comes down to a clash of playstyle, really.

But I do not really agree with the notion of responding to rudeness with rudeness. Point blank, it's just a stupid video game when you strip it down to its essentials, and it's not worth getting upset or frustrated over or anything. If you don't like clashing with different playstyles, don't do pickup groups and find like-minded individuals that you can have fun with in your adventures. I always say that pickup groups are a crap shoot...sometimes you'll meet some fantastic players and other times not so much.

Happens in pickup groups. Why it's good to group with some people you know who all work hard.

Happens all the time with pick up groups, just something you have to live with. I'm often in groups that parse ~2.5k (so I'm doing about 50% of the damage of the whole group), but then I've also been in groups that parse 4-6k. It's a roll of the dice, and part of the reason pick up groups can be fun. 6k dps in a group is obscene.

Even if people are parsing low, if they're nice and fun to group with, it doesn't bother me at all, but in any case I keep two things in mind:

1. Mages don't have our built in aggro control, and also have longer casting times. Thus they have a harder time doing good dps in groups (I know your example was a brigand so doesn't apply).

2. Very few people care about optimizing their dps as much as I do.

My rule of thumb is if they are a dps class, they should be out dps'ing the tank. As long as they are doing that I consider them as contributing. I'll bend the rule when we have an exceptional tank (I often play with a sk that parses 600-900, and a monk that frequently breaks 1k in groups).

I'm not a huge fan of people posting parses - it clutters up the chat channel and mostly people don't care. If it bothers me enough I'll create a parse channel and tell everyone what it is. It lets people know that someone is paying attention to how they're performing without spamming everyone. If they want to see the parse they can join the channel.

Best thing for you to do.. Pick a fight - and say you have stopped attacking, so people can recognize the difference. If a tanks out dpsing any dps - tell them to screw off and find another group, or learn to play there class.
