Does anyone have some solid ideas of what the differences between the two are? I've always played a tank, and my only idea between the two is that Ill does haste, Coercer does dps. What I want to do as an enchanter is to do that spec that lets you keep casting over and over really fast, and essentially do good damage while still being good utility. Do the unique AAs for illusionist or coercer fit this better? I'm really lost on the differences and the threads for them disappeared Please help

So essentially, you want to cast any and all things you can, as soon as they refresh. As a sidebar, you would highly benefit from Enchance: Phantasmal Shock from the Illusionist tree. It's your main nuke, and the reuse time is VERY nice when it's shortened.

Edit: Some thoughts of non-synergy in the Illusionist tree.

1. Enhance: Sadness. This AA gives your Sadness line a burst of damage when it wears off. Being a Perpetuality Illusionist, I oftentimes will re-cast my DoTs even before they've expired ... simply because I want to keep casting, and it's NON-STOP.

2. Don't have a Conjuror as an alt, or former main. Try not to log into your Conjuror, as the shock, going from Perpetuality Illusionist to THAT, will likely cause you to delete your Conjuror forthwith.

I've only played a Berserker, Guardian and Monk with any seriousness, so I'm welcoming a change of pace as much as I love tanks. It looks like Illusionist is what I wanted. It looks like I'm missing out on some of the fun with charm and Impetus is probably better than Rapidity, but Illusionist looks fun nonetheless. Thanks for the help, although I will more than welcome any other comments

I know what you mean about playing another caster after illus. If you have a templar cast their faster casting buff on you and your full perpetual, it looks like your casting combat arts.

Illusionist is better DPS than Coercer, to name just 1 reason, the Coercer is going to want to take the + to Heal Crits in the Enchanter tree (since they are MT group for raids for agro gain on the MT, which is going to prohibit them from taking either the Chronomancer thing at 22-2 AGI, or Volitile Magic at 22-2 in INT.
