First, what are Paraffin Sealed Docs and how do I use them? Next, how do I sort or config the recipes section so I only get recipes for Wizards? I love the game but there are some strange behavior problems there. And next, how do I create and use macros? Can't figger them out at all. Finally (for now) how do I defeat those "Heroic" characters? I've been handed my hat so many times by chars who are two or even three levels below me. I'm a 17 wiz and he's a 13 heroic gnoll. He wipes me every time. Things are not ALL bad, you know; after only a week of play I'm up to 17 level. I s'pose that counts for a (minuscule) amount.

Some classes can solo-kill heroic that arent many levels below them, some cant at all - my dirge can sometimes kill green heroics that are 7-9 levels below me, anything higher than that and I'll surely die. But mainly heroics arent really meant to be solo'd.

As the poster above detailed, documents, relics, etc. are meant to be sold for status points. These points will help the guild level (if you are in one) or just accumulates as your personal status that you can use to purchase special items or help pay the rent in some houses (still limited choice if you are not in a guild). Make sure that the vendor offers you xxxsp together with coins, it's a number written in light blue near the selling price of these items. Only merchants in the appropriate guilds accept these for status. You can't sort the recipe book per class, but you can just look for spells name by name. Allakhazam has a list of spells for each classes, or you can likely find it on your class forum. Here is the wizard list http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=163138 Macros won't do much for you, you can use them to have a single hotkey cast a sequence of 2 spells (/useability is the command, followed by the exact spell name you want to cast) or to perfrom other actions like /assist tankname, where tankname is the fighter in your group, etc. There is somewhere on these boards a macro guide, try with a search. Heroic mobs are just a lot more tough, hit way harder and have more hit points. There is no rule saying they aren't meant to be soloed (contrary to popular belief), but at your level it usually just doesn't happen. When you will be around your mid 30s you will have a lot more abilities to help you do that and you will start to tackle heroics several levels below you, although it's generally not efficient exp-wise. As a rule of thumb, get a group to kill heroic mobs, it's better, easier, very rewarding both for exp and loot. You'll level quite fast until higher levels (I noticed the first slowdown around 30, ymmv). You can disable exp gained for killing mobs (right click on the exp bar) to stay in a certain level range, this is done to finish quests before they become grey if you wish so or just to make levelling a longer process and explore more content for each level range. Hope this helped

Each city has four adventure factions, one each for fighter, mage, healer, and scout. They buy things like that parrafin doc but give you status instead of coin. You can also sell these things for coin to any vendor, but many people will pay more than a vendor if you sell them on the broker.

Status is good for buying expensive things cheaply. You pay mostly in status points rather than coin. Also, some merchants will only sell you stuff if you have a certain amount of status. These are the city merchants and the faction merchants and they do have some nice "fun" stuff.

To create a macro, simply hit the "o" key in-game to open up the socials window, then click the macro tab. Right click on any macro slot and select edit. You can type in any game command and then click test to test it, or save it, or change the icon. Once you complete your macro, you can the icon from your window to a hot bar.

Search these boards, especially the stickies up top. There's a lot of free info on how to set up macros and even a list or two of commands you can use.

There are several kinds of heroic mobs. Non-heroic mobs are meant for solo people. Every mob has a set of up or down arrows in their con info. The more down arrows, the easier the mob. The more up arrows, the harder the mob.

You'll often see groups of mobs with down arrows. These are meant to be solo encounters, one person of equivalent level should be able to take out a group of about 4 mobs that have three down arrows. This adds a bit of spice to the solo scene.

A mob with a single up arrow is heroic and is meant for a small group of 2.

A mob with 2 up arrows is meant for a mid size group of 3-4.

A mob with 3 up arrows is meant for a full group of the same level.

Many people brag about being able to solo yellow heroics. What they don't tell you is that those are just the one arrow heroics. At 17 I wouldn't expect anyone to be able to take a 13 3up, maybe a 12. At 70 you mighte not be able to solo 3 ups 15 levels lower.

There are also epic mobs and you can stumble into these in just about any zone, even the cities. These mobs have very fancy name brackets and will not only have up arrows, but an "X" factor, like x2, x3, or x4. That x-factor is the number of full groups expected to tackle the mob.

Look around you home city and you find some epic guards at like 70^^^ x4. That means four full groups of level 70s are expected to have an even chance at the encounter.

It's a little clonky, but it can help you narrow it down from the kajillions of recipes you'll have as a spell-making class. You might want to sort them by Tier. Here's a guide: How to customize your Recipe Book, 101

It is intended for solo characters, although yellow ones can be a challenge for many characters. They generally have quite a bit more health than non-up-arrow mobs and hit quite a bit harder. Individual mobs with 2 up arrows are very uncommon, and I am not sure if they are generally considered heroic or not. A mob with 3 up arrows is intended for groups -- and "group" in EQ2 is defined as 3-6 characters.

Hmmm, well; food for thought for sure. Thanks for all the help; now if they'd just get the servers back online. Heh heh heh!

On the macro thing:

Macros are (what seems to be) getting a huge, favourable revamp, and it's worth looking into.
