So Im a lvl 48 assassin and I was getting bored of the standard str/int build... so I tried something new for pvp last night....

I decided to drop 4-8-8-8-1 into intelligence... thats right.. complete Nightshade!!

I didnt really expect too much to come of this but... OMG IT WTFPWNS in pvp! not 30 minutes after I did this respec I found an even con fury dropped him with ease! I then found a yellow con fury and dropped him as well! both within 10 min of each other!

Intoxication myself, stealth back up.. drop out spitting viper M1, that + the insta auto bow attack is at least another proc as well as into.. (I use fettering, caustic, and warding ebb) then once they are turned to me I rushed in hit them with poison combo, and Moore.... thats pretty much negative if not absolute 0 resists to poison... And as well since ppl are gonna auto attack most of the time, the Neurotoxic coating drops all of their offensive skills quite a hefty amount! at my lvl it drops them all by like 35.

I dont know about you guys but I am REALLY enjoying the balls deep nightshade line... my only regret is that I dont have enough points to spend in the KoS tree to max all the nightshade abilities AND get 8 point melee crit..

Well... just thought id share my experience Peace out you shady lil assassins!

Intoxication is a cool ability. It wasn't worth 8 points in the old system (because melee and spell crits are so much better) but it's quite useful for a few points.

needs a faster refresh and a shorter duration imo.

Would make it overpowered. Besides the DOT it's a large spell debuff as well.

Prove that I wasn't. I was one of the first assassins(level 20) in the entire game, and the only one that was a wood elf. EQ2players was how I checked. There were no other assassins that were wood elves back in November 2004 when I hit 20, and for days after as well.

Back on topic. I think intoxication has too great of time between ticks. All longer DoTs we've ever had (oozing wound, cloaked assault, deadly wound) and poisons like hemotoxin have all had their durations shortened because of how ineffective they were for most players. (those not raiding.) Now as a raider, I don't mind it how it is right now, doesn't obther me.. but for group situations, I don't like it at all. It needs to be changed in line with other DoTs for assassins.

I've always thought of it more as a debuff than a DOT. Or rather, a debuff which happens to have a DOT, too. So the longer time is nice. If it were shorter, then the debuff wouldn't last long enough.

I personally think that the duration should be about 30 seconds, and the recast 1 minute. This would make it much more single group friendly, and not take away it's viability in a raid environment. If you have 2 assassins (like Paradigm) does, you could even time them to keep it up at all times, something you can't do with it in its current form. Another little pet peeve I have with it is its casting time. I'd like a second taken off of that casting time.

With those changes, I'd think it would be a very solid ability, and worthy of being a last ability of a tree which in my opinion, all of those last abilities should be really decent.

Perhaps EQ2players is just bugged on showing creation date. As for Intoxication, shortening the duration of it would shorten the duration of the debuff, and frankly, I wouldn't want to shorten that size debuff of casting and offensive abilities at all. I don't rely on Intox for its damage, respectable as it is. I put it up at the beginning of the fight, fire and forget. If the fight is long, I will refresh it as able.

Would be nice if applying it didn't break stealth.
