I just got everquest 2 and am not sure which class to play. I'm considering these: Fury Paladin Berserker Monk Ranger I started as fury and thought it was fun but after playing these other classes Fury doesn't seem near as fun. Should I play all these classes to 10 and see which I like best. Also I want to be able to solo ok at all lvs. If any of these classes are horrible solo then I'll cross them off my list. Also do Berserkers duel wield most of the time? What weapons do paladins use? How much of the time do rangers spend in melee and how much in ranged? I really just wanna play a fun class don't care if they're good or not. Thanks for helping!

Hehe, that's a lot of questions for one post, but I'll try to answer some: As for soloability, I think the ranger might have a problem, I thought Paladins weren't great solo either, but I think with AAs now they can dps much better. The ranger won't have a dps problem obviously, but his survivability is pretty low. You should know that Paladins are the slowest soloist on your list though. Berserkers can dual wield or go with a two-hander, or a one-hander and shield. I have a low-level Zerker who dual wields unless I'm tanking, at which time I switch to a one-hander / shield setup. There's a long argument (I think in the Zerker boards) about the benefits of dual-weilding versus a two-hander. If you can find that thread it will answer this question best. Paladins can use just about every weapon in the game I think, except Brawler-only stuff (fist wraps etc.). Of course, most Paladins stick to either a two-hander or a one-hander and shield. Daggers would be a waste of time for a plate tank. Rangers spend the majority of their time at range. I think to maximize DPS it's necessary to joust though. Meaning you have to use your ranged CA's, run in close to get your melee CA's off, and then back out to range. Those are my answers to your questions. I have a suggestion if you're open to classes not on your list. If you want great soloability and (I think) a really fun class, try one of the summoners. Their pets and dps combine for quick, effective, and relatively safe soloing. Conjurers and Necromancers are your options here. I've played both to about 35 and I personally prefer the Necro, but both are fun. Anyway, good luck with your choice!

Id chose Monk, they are really great with DPS and they are decent soloers. They where leather armor and ALL they do is solo. I currently have a level 40 monk on Blackburrow server and he can tank for a group or just solo a bit. Monk 5/5 for the FIRST class.

I've decided to play fury as my main because after playing the others some more I realized just how nice that healing is to have when solo. I'm going to play one of the summoners and a monk as alts. What are the big differences between the 2 summoners? I'd like to play conjurer just because they're good and thats what all my other chars are but if the necro is that much better I might play that. Thanks for the tips!
Fury : good soloear and loved in groups <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Paladin : not bad soloer , heals , plate and not bad dps with AAs Berserker : Good dps (aoe) , plate , and tank Monk : Feign death nuff said to solo is your lifesaver <3 , good dps and cool animations =) Ranger : In groups rocks soloing is meh =/ until high lvls If u want a fun class try all <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> , all tanks are different , all type of healers are different and mages too <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> U need to think that melees rely on weapons to do damage while mages and healers rely on spells.... for you 1 char fury is a good option , u can solo , heal , nuke , teleport around , if u need group i will get 1 asap (as healer or off healer/dps mainly) , speed buffs ect is a good class imo ^^ next i will say berserker is the other side of the coin : Dps and tank ^^ get a cool 2h or dual weild and go berserk mode on =D

Zerk (they great in-combat regeneration skills, normal mobs barely scratch me) Bruiser Fury Paladin Conjurer > Necro in solo'ing imo, but necros arn't bad by a long shot

The ranger solos fairly well, but will be a bit troublesome. One thing, play classes to mid 20 before deciding anythinga bout them. Most classes dont get into their feel until then. Zerkers can DW/2H/sword and board at any time they see fit. All about playstyle. Pallies use twohanders, onehanders and ONE dw (cant actually dual wield, but can use the weapons) Rangers spend much of their time in range when in groups. (Or should, seen quite a few rangers that go in and melee all the fight, ending up with ridiculus dps.) " I really just wanna play a fun class don't care if they're good or not." is a very key thing to say. Find the class YOU like and play it. We dont know what you like, so we cant tell you what class you will like. I, for instance, loves taking the underdog classes and turning them into monsters. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Others like playing the FoTM classes (And they always seem to be the ones all [Removed for Content] as soon as there are changes in the combat system, or to their class) So, ask yourself, what do you like to do? If you are primarily a soloer, pick a strong solo class. These are SK, inqy, brawlers, summoners and enchanters. (People will rant and rave about how this and that class can outsolo this and that class, but these are pretty much the strongest ones IMHO) And, remember, all the classes can solo, it just takes different tactics, and different amounts of time. if you like to tank, pick a crusader or a warrior. (Or a warlock and have a defiler buddy that always follows you around. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />) If you enjoy to top the dps parse, and make the mobs health drop like a rock, pickeither a sorceror, summoner, predator or a rogue. And, if crowd control is your forté pick an enchanter. If you are into being a group buffer, pick an enchanter or a bard. And for a healer, pick a priest. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Either one will do, but remember, the druids are FOTM classes atm and their spells costs as such too. You should atleast try the Brigand/Swashy class. They are the flavor of the month right now because they solo like gods and can make top parse in groups and in raids too if you get to the high levels.
<cite>Vuurk117 wrote:</cite><blockquote> I really just wanna play a fun class don't care if they're good or not. Thanks for helping! </blockquote><p>What is "fun" for me might not be "fun" for you or for the guy next to you, so I can't answer what will be fun for you to play. I do suggest that you should have a <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=0&topic_id=346645#3932873" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">read over this post </a>for a very quick summary of the classes, and see which jump out at you sounding interesting, then try a few.</p><p>You should also ask yourself questions like, do you feel comfortable with leading groups around all the time, deciding where to go and studying zones to know the best strategies to approach them? If the answer is no, you may want to avoid being a tank, as it's most often a group's tank who gets put in this position.</p><p>Do you like to be able to run AFK and get a beer without warning your entire group or asking for a break? If so, you might want to avoid healer classes, since when you're the only healer in a group, you definitely have to be paying attention 100% of the time!</p><p>Do you find it fun to be the guy dealing the killing blow, sending in that massive nuke, killing the enemy in one shot? Then a wizard or assassin might be a class to look at!</p><p>Do you hate running around for positional backstaps and sideswipes and things, do you like to just hit without worrying where you're standing? Then the scout classes might not be such a great choice!</p><p>Etc etc. ... I could go on ... but you get the idea. The more you can figure out about what you do and don't enjoy doing when you're playing, the easier it will be to narrow down what classes you might enjoy most. I know it took me about 4 classes to figure out what I liked, and it wasn't what I was guessing when I started playing! <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </p>

The 2 main reasons I much prefer the necro is lifetaps and feign death. Lifetaps drain health from the mob and give some of it back to the necro. Feign death is 100% reliable. As you can imagine, these are both huge boons to the soloer. Necros also get a rez spell at lvl 48 which can be a valuable group-saver used in conjunction with FD.</p><p>Conjurors get a spell called Call of the Hero at lvl 50-something, which can port a group member to the conj's location. Obviously this of of little use to the soloer, tho very handy for the habitual grouper.</p>

<cite>ZachSpastic wrote:</cite><blockquote>These have changed. The actual classes and subclass structure remains the same, what's on the character creation screen is just supposed to indicate what kind of "expected fantasy roles" they fall into (personally I think it's just confusing).
