ive been leveling a templar for a while and was thinking about making an alt that is a bit easier to go solo on. i was thinking berserker or bruiser. I really like the idea of the berserker and think it would be a fun class to play but i dont want something that solo's abysmally slow (i could log on my templar if i wanted to do that). I know i can solo really well on my templar it just gets boring taking 2 minutes to take out a group of 3 mobs my level.

A zerker or bruiser or viable options for the lone soloer. You could also go swash/brig. And get toys like track, stealth, and evac to play with.

Pretty much any class will be faster at soloing than your templar!

Of the two you mentioned, I'd say bruiser is the better soloer - berserkers have no ability to heal themselves which makes them less flexible at soloing (not to mention the bruiser's feign death too). Wizard or warlock would probably be a very nice change for you too, or one of the non-bard scouts, as then you'd have one alt at the extreme of maximum damage and your main (templar) at the other extreme minimum. But pick something that appeals to you!

What??!! No mention of a Conj or Necro?? Pfft. LOL

Try a monk, which is a brawler. They are good aligned so you don't have to worry about learning a new city. They are considered fighters so they can take a hit, but they have some of the hightest dps for fighers. Their FD ability is super uber, and will get you in a bunch of places only groups can go.

Want to see what a brawler can do, in the fan art section of the forums there is a little video called "The Challenage".

If you're intent on melee, Bruiser would probably be the better bet just for the feign death ability. A Berserker can dish out serious damage but they have no way to heal themselves in a fight (I don't recall if our Bind Wounds works during a fight but the cast time is so long it makes no sense to use it while getting beat on) so your hope is that you can tank well enough to kill them before they kill you.

In emergencies you can break an encounter, stop attacking, and use Bind Wounds. In a really close fight it can prevent a death, but you won't get credit for the kill of course. This works even while being attacked. It's no where near as good as the Brawlers' ability to heal themselves during a fight though.

Don't count out the zerkers, they make up for not being able to heal by having great in-combat hp regen, normal mobs barely scratch me
