View Full Version : Splitpaw Adventure pack - Gnoll Illusion?

I saw someone with a gnoll illusion but cannot, for the life of me, figure out what the item is that allows this illusion effect. I was told that it had something to do with a quest or something in the Splitpaw adventure pack (which I own) but that is as far as I've gotten.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to where this quest starts, level, and what not?

Thanks in advance!

There are two gnoll illusion items in the Splitpaw saga. One is a shard that you can use as often as you like to assume the form of the Splitpaw gnolls that look like doberman pinscher. The second is a one use item that makes you look like and Underpaw gnoll (large, hulking, werewolf like gnolls). I believe the one you are looking for is the former and it is called the Terramite Shard of Transformation. I believe it is a reward for completing the heroic arena in Splitpaw Den. I have it, but cannot remember with any certainty which of the Splitpaw quests gave it to me.

Yeah the gnoll illusion (which goes away whenever you zone) is from the Heroic Arena. Defeat the end-guy there (named in there give AA btw) and you'll get that Terramite Shard of Transformation, as well as boar-like creature for your home that gives around 100 rent reductioin. agressiv

aye the Shard of Transformation comes from the Heroic Arena, the last mob of the ring event drops it in a chest

No, it's the Heroic Arena instance, and is designed for a group. If you're 60+ then you might be able to do it solo (since Splitpaw stops scaling at level 50), but it is designed for a group.

If you want the gnoll illusion, you'll have to do the heroic version, which is entered in a different location within Splitpaw. If you go in at 50+, I think the champion is anywhere from 52-54. Worth it just for the AA. agressiv

Question - is there a purpose to the one time use illusion? (other than 30 minutes or so of entertainment)? Just wondering. I have noticed in a few quests that you have a one time use item that is needed for another quest. The other illusions seem to be unlimited (or have a consumable to work but still unlimited in that respect).

Just wondering...

I found no use for it other than entertainment value.

But yes, it won't "fool" gnolls and make them non-agro when they otherwise would be agro. agressiv

So the shard has unlimited uses but has to be recast after each zone?

Since this instance doesn't count on your total to earn trust, just make sure the last guy is green or above to get the illusion. And yes, the shard has unlimited uses, and has to be recast every time you zone. Been a while since I've fought it grey, but I doubt they've changed it recently. agressiv

The shard is for fun, the one-time illusion is part of one of the quests down in SP.

Illusionists get two "fun" spells that grant gnoll illusion. One is a group illusion (which also affects our pets) and one is a self target.

There is also a bone collection quest that will grant you the illusion, but consumes a gnoll bone.

The shard of transformation makes you look....like me! The illusion lasts 2 hours and is unlimited can be cast while moving 1 sec cast. The illusion has all animations except swimming, unless you cast the animation while moving in water, otherwise you just move forward while standing stif as a board. most wepon particle effects do not show unless it is a moving particle (ie the little blue swirly on the prismatic dual wield but not the rainbow effect) the illusion does not have a 2h animation you just stand there with the wepon in one hand and swing your freehand . brandishing your weapons rapidly with the ~ button makes for a good way to bark at people for no reason, or if you are in combat rappidly sitting and standing works the same way

the petrified gnoll eye (from the colection of gnoll bones) Turns you into a white gnoll comonly found in antonica. all animtaion and rules of the splitpaw gnoll illusion still apply

in short most people have no clue what my true race is they know me as a gnoll

Also, I wonder why gnolls have not been made a playable race in EQ? They've been around in the games even since EQ Live. I figured it would have been an easy race to implement.

You are describing the Splitpaw Gnoll Illusion... the above poster is talking about the Underpaw Illusion. I would like to know as well.Anm found it... first part of flammable fur in the splitpaw saga.

Soloed all of it. And you do not get the Underpaw illusion in there, you get the regular gnoll form. you also get some trashy treasured stuff a few TS books and a cpl of dreadsnouts. Also, the Murk (the guy that heals with his tiny toddler minions) is not the last mob, but rather somewhere in the middle. He is the hardest one though.

If you're going there for the shard of transformation alone, you'll want to make this clear to your group beforehand.I went there -twice- to try and get a shard, took hours to organise a group both times and get them all there, and i lost the rolls on the shard both times, took me 2 days for like 6 hours a time.. and it was all for squat, 18 hour lockout too. The group all apologised when i made this known and said i should have told them and they would have declined on the shard rolls. You see, theres only 2 shards per win :/

if the gnolls become playerable race, but they have no place to stay in Q or even in FP, they both remember from pre-cataclysmic event. they would have to find homes in neutral city, it cant be Maj'dul or New Feydwar when they had war in past. so New Neraik could be possible, but it have to be evil instead of good or neutral. it would take dev team a big deal to reconstruct neutral places for "cast-outs" orcs and gnolls. or even those two tribes of dark and white vampires if they get banished. it would be odd for vampires to be playerable when they go on adventure during daylights and outdoors. making neutral place will take massive amount of time, for city to call it home, skeleton wireframes for e-motings, armors to fit right, or skin textures. some new lores to make sense why they become playable races and reason for factions to work on. i still have 1-shot illusion dark gnoll. but i do have question, what happen if 70 lvl to take heroic arena, and will they do get chest drops for illusion shard or no drops?

heh, i'm playing a Gnoll right now using a petrified eye and bone chips.. its pretty fun. They seem to have the best attack animations in the game, in my opinion.. the dual wield thrust is awesome.
