Just got my GDOH last night - replaced my Absolution and looks (and works) wonderfully next to my Dirk of Negativity.. My question is now, do I really need to start thinking about getting more +% Crit items? I have my 2% from my MoA, I've got the max melee crits from our Pred AA line, and I have that semi-useless 2% buff for 30 seconds from Armguards of Dread How much +% Crit is enough? Should I look to replace my +32str str Earring from Anachronism when I get a Relic Hunters Solitaire from visiting Freethinkers? when do ya'll think is it just being silly and starting to hurt out DPS by sacrificing too much STR/AGI/DPS or even Mit/Resists (you cant DPS when you're dead)? What do you all think?

I dont think you can really have too much +crit. I mean if you are really shooting yourself in the foot for stats to get it than maybe not, but in a raid your grp should be able to provide you with all the str and mit you need.

After you get Grinning Dirk of Horror you don't even need to try and dps anymore!

Just autoattack, CAs are for the weak once you hold a weapon of such power in your hand!

Done Lyceum about 50 times and seen GDoH drop one time. Congrats Cyriex!

If I were you I'd definately look into melee crit and spell crit items. Dhampre chest piece (leather) from Mistmore Castle gives 2%. Theres a couple nice cloaks out there that give crit %'s. Theres some leather gloves that give Spell Crit % boost. Believe theres some league quests that give Crit Boost jewelery.

GDoH is a [Removed for Content] nice weapon!

-Brev

The reason GDOH is nice is because of when you crit. Therefore, don't stop until 100% crit rate. That having been said it is critical to have STR to 850 if possible, 750 minimal raid.

You have won the game, you have your gdoh.. Its time to delete your toon and start again! Grats on your weapon! Going from 600str-700 str improves dps by 2.5%, going from 500-600 str improves dps by 3%.. Going from 700str-1150 improves dps by 5%.. 1% crit improves dps by 0.3% - 4% crit improves dps by 1.2%.. Switch up gear do some math and you will find your own solution.

Its my own calculations I have done on my own toon. And its all in how you take 2% into context - with us its 2% for everything we have got say poisons.. Right now - str effects all dps cept poisons.. Str effects offensives/mark/procs. Take what I have said with a grain of salt - if you want more accurate results do it with your own toon. I am a ranger - not an assassin, it is a possibility some of your spells may scale diffrently than mine.

Grats on your GDOH got mine 2 weeks ago in our first trip 2 lyceum for a while so i was doing cartwheels for abit, 1 thing though why does it have 2 look like soulspike a legendary that drops in WC. I have a baby brig that has a pair of them. Wish SoE wouldnt use the same graphics for so many items its a real shame but i guess it gives the art department more time down the pub.

You're completely wrong on the crits, and my own experiences on the STR think you're underestimating those also. .3% dps improvement from 1% crits is true ONLY if you never get a boost to the max dmg amount. Which on weapons like GDoH happens all the time. If your CAs have a wide range it also happens on those a lot. You obviously have your information wrong. Your crit boost and str boost also stack in terms of dps, of course.

I've got another problem, which hopefully some opinions will help me sort out.. since getting my GDoH I am now suffering from 'TMW Syndrome', or rather, Too Many Weapons.. If you had the following 4 weapons, which 2 would you pick to use (all the time, or situational) and in which hands? Grinning Dirk of Horror Dirk of Negativity Absolution The Wurmslayer All ideas appricated!

#1 GDoH #2 Rapier of Darkness (from MMIS) #3 Dirk of Negativity Always, unless they're pierce immune. Or on wurms the wurmslayer is worth using over the DON due to its great proc.

Grats. GDH is good with 2 things.Haste + Crit mod. Beg for an illusionist + Fury, Usually you can sneak into a caster group by giving up a Dirge. Crit mod Chest from CMF 2% ChestCloak from IS 2% + 30% hasteNeck KoS 2% Earring Vampire set 2%Pumpkie head 1%

Switching out the RoD isn't worth it to me, for the wurmslayer. But it depends on what you're swap out for it. The DoN, you're probably fine using it on the dragons.
