I always see people running around with their name followed by 'slayer of undead/orc/etc'

How do I get those titles? As I kill certain mobs I get the message that says im now a slayer of x creature, I hit p and see the suffix titles dropdown, but its completely empty. Do I need a certain expansion in order to show them?

I think there's a good summary thread about titles somewhere but as my connection is painfully slow at the moment I'm too lazy to go looking for it ... so here's the short answer. Suffix titles (after your name)

"Hunter of .... [species]" and "Slayer of ... [species]" etc. -- these are automatically earned based on how many of that species you kill. I believe the first title (Hunter) is at 500 kills. You sometimes see faction updates (e.g. "you have become an initiate killer of [species]" at other times but not all of these relate to titles. There's a sign in each city you can click on to check your kill count - in Qeynos it's in NQ on a pole near the gate to Antonica, in Kelethin it's on the side of an acorn somewhere between the Green Knoll ramp and Joleena's Restaurant, and in Freeport I can't remember offhand but I'm sure someone in the city can tell you.

"the Treasure Hunter", "the Relic Seeker", etc ... these are awarded based on the number of Heritage Quests you have completed. You hail the librarian in your home town (the guy in the mage area who sells quest books) and he will give you your title if you've completed enough HQ's. You also get a certificate to put in your room.

"the Fragrant" and other somewhat odd titles ... these are quested in the Fallen Dynasty adventure pack (level 50+) by collecting monk pebbles which you turn in for titles when you have enough.

"the Ebon Dragon" "the Jade Tiger" ... these are quested in Pillars of Flame from the monk factions there (level 50+)

"the Loyal", "the Dedicated", etc. ... these are titles you can /claim based on your account age (1 year, 2 year, 3 year)

"Nybright Benefactor" ... quested in Lesser Faydark from the Nybright family (level 50+)

"Hero of Drednever" ... quested in Solusek's Eye from the gnomes (level 40+)

"the Exiled" ... this person is doing a Betrayal quest and is not currently aligned with any home city

"the Contender" and similar combat-sounding titles ... these are earned based on number of wins/kills in the PvP arena

"of Innoruuk", "of Firiona Vie", of other god names ... these are claimed titles that allow you to pick one of the EQ1 server names, you could get this on one character if you purchased the original EQ2 game and I believe you also get them as your 3 year reward /claim package

"Hero of Maj'Dul" ... this is quested in Maj'dul by doing an extremely long quest series helping all three of the Courts

Prefix titles (in front of your name)

Class-type names like "Magician", "Sage", "Assassin" etc ... these are automatically granted when you complete a full Achievement line in your class achievements tab.

"Baron", "Lord", "Madam", other nobility titles ... these tend to be guild level related, when the guild you are in reaches a certain guild level you are able to buy these (for a hefty price) from the City Merchant.

"Knight-Captain", "Interagent", "Notiviate", "Crier", other faction-sounding titles ... these are earned by gaining faction with writ givers. If you do enough writs for one faction or another they will start selling you these titles (first one at +10,000 faction, and others every 10,000 after that).

"Golden Sun", "Sagacious" ... these are also from the Fallen Dynasty monk pebble quests

There's probably others but that's all I can think of at the moment off the top of my head!

the Inisiate hunter off xxx that you see on the screen from time to time(with drums playing) means you reached a milestone on the way to becoming a Master Hunter of XXX, its at this point that you get the Hunter of XXX title(after 500 kills), the other titles are Slayer at 5000 and Destroyer at I beleave 10k

Is there any way NOT to have a title put after your name automatically?

And a somewhat related question... Is there any way to clear your last name once you assign it? I know you can change it but can you completely remove it?

I'd like others to just see my name and nothing else... No "Myfirstname Mylastname, Hunter of Whatever", I'd just like them to see Myfirstname and the name of my guild beneath it. Is this possible?

You must select them from the drop down menu in your personna window.

In regard to your last name, I think clearing the last name box in your personna window should do the trick.

JonasLupus wrote:

In regard to your last name, I think clearing the last name box in your personna window should do the trick.

You might also try the /lastname command with nothing after it. That should set your last name to [blank].

Why don't you use /anon or /roleplay? Ah know one just lists you name and the other your name and guild, just can't remember which

anon will only show your name on /who. roleplay will list name and guild.

btw, the coolest titles are on pvp servers, you can only get them there Just learn the game first before getting your feet wet (with your blood) in pvp.
