why would anybody buy a weappon rack or anything other than a salemans crate? with a salemans crate you can put anything in there right, so why not just buy salesman crates and put everything in there? if there is a reason please let me know, thanks

So if you're an Artisan it behooves you to buy specilty containers appropriate to you goods. Sages might get several Scroll Cases, for example.

The specialized containers (like the weapons rack) hold more of that type of item than the salesman crate. That is potentially important if you are a crafter, and want to be able to have as many items on the market as possible.
I didnt know they had rent reduction..... is that true?

Jixx wrote:
I didnt know they had rent reduction..... is that true?
um, don't think so... but I'd have to log in and look. I don't think they count toward the number of items in your house.

got it, so if you are a weapon smith than you would want more slots for your weapons, therfore a weapon rack is useful, thanks guys for the info

It really depends on the house itself, not on how many rooms it has. For example.. The 2 room inn rooms in QH and EFP only afford the buyer 2 broker/vault slots while all other 2 room inn rooms in other areas of the city give 3. Some 3 room houses afford 4 broker/vault slots while there are others that give 3. Etc etc. This compilation on EQ2 Traders helped me a lot with figuring out which houses I wanted to upgrade to when it came time to find a bigger residence (especially before they added the information of how many broker/vault slots a house has to the Buy window). I only wish I would've found it before moving to QH all those ages back only to find that I only got 2 broker/vault slots for my new 2 room apartment and wasted all that coin (a big deal for me back then). Jixx wrote:
I didnt know they had rent reduction..... is that true?
In-home sales containers do not give any status rent reduction, no. Although other furniture made out of rare wood does, sales crates don't count as true furniture.

Semi-off topic: I saw someone selling something from there Freeport home the other day but the Broker Commission was only listed as 20% instead of the normal 40% for Qeynos residence. Is there some type of sales crate that offers Broker Commission Discounts?

Also, here are 2 other Housing Charts that offer many details on upgrades:

Link 1

Link 2

It reduces the broker fee by 50% (so it would be 10% in your home town, 20% if it would normally be 40%). It's smaller than most of the carpenter-made crates however. And, since the price is going to be the same if they visit your room to buy anyway, personally I think these things are more confusion than they're worth.

Here's the info on the carpenter-made ones:

Consignment sales containers come in two types: a general container that holds everything (called a salesman's crate) and specialist containers that are much bigger, but hold only one type of item (e.g. a furniture shelf holds only house items; a bag stand holds only containers). Slots of specalized containers:

Fir specalized = 48 slots

Oak specalized = 56 slots

Cedar specialized = 64 slots

Ironwood specialized = 72 slots

Ebony specialized = 80 slots

Slots of general containers (salesman's crates):

Fir Salesman's Crate = 28 slots

Oak Salesman's Crate = 36 slots

Cedar Salesman's Crate = 44 slots

Ironwood Salesman's Crate = 52 slots

Ebony Salesman's Crate = 60 slots

Edit: for comparison, the largest non-rare strong box is the rosewood strong box at 32 slots, so you can see that everything but the fir salesman's crate is a significant space improvement for selling even apart from being able to put it in your home! Ebony can be pricy still but fir, oak, and cedar, are usually pretty cheap these days and will still give you some nice extra space in a sales container if you can't afford ebony.

The specialized containers are most useful, I think, for people who do tradeskilling and have the larger houses. I am a woodworker and live in one of the houses in SQ that has five vendor slots. I have a jewelery box for totems, a weapons rack for wands and arrows, another weapons rack for staffs, clubs and bows and then two sales crates to hold anything else that I might have to sell (shields, collectables, dropped loot, etc).

I have a question regarding salesman crate: 1 have bought a fir salesman crate and wants to use it. I have the starting appartment with two slots. When I try to use it, it says I need to upgrade my room before using it. Does it mean I need to get one of the more expensive inn rooms? If so, are there crates that can be used in the startier appt?
