currently I only have the original EQ2 game. I am wondering, as a new player, what expansions or adventure packs i should get right away. thanks!

EoF, boxed from a store, since that will get you all expansion packs for the price of one. You can wait with the adventure packs.

yes, EoF is pretty much it, the boxed set. That will get you achievements at lvl 10.

Yeah *IF* you can find an EoF expansion in store.

Gamestops: If they have one that never sold. Otherwise they now only sell them online.

Walmart: Same thing

Target: Same thing

Best Buy: Same thing

Fry's Electronics (if you live near one): Does keep a SMALL stock in store or tries too.

Basically with all SOE's power they can't even manage to get a store like Gamestop or Walmart to keep 1 copy in store. EQ2 has a pretty bad population problem IMHO. It should have many more players but SOE fails to advertise or promote it in any way. So many that were turned off by the way it was on release will never come back because they have no idea what it's become. EQ2 is a horrible failure - not because of the game itself or the way it's been updated (BRAVO!). Everyone that works for Marketing for SOE should be fired.

I found mine at CompUSA and they had several boxes there at the time. This was right after launhc of the expansion, though. I don't know what it's like now.

But yes -- definitely get the boxed set. Best deal going.

EB Games and Amazon still have them available in their online stores.

I joined the game last weekend after playing WoW for over 2 years. All I knew of EQ2 was what I heard from when it launched (which was not good) and that they put out several more expansions than WoW did. As far as I knew the gameplay was group forced early, grindy, and gimpy classes. I tried the Play the Fae trial, and knew pretty much right away after spending a few hours that this game had WoW's core gameplay with many more features and much deeper mechanics. Plus with 3 expansions and the base game starting off... I know I won't run out of content any time soon

I had no idea that EQ2 had turned itself around into a great game, until I tried it on my girlfriend's suggestion while looking for the next MMO.

It seems like most stores anymore only keep new games on the shelf - no matter how bad or how good/popular - for only around 6 to 8 weeks.

Which is why I just buy nearly all my stuff online now, much easier than running around fighting traffic.

But as noted, just get the EOF box - it includes all previous expansions for the same price.

I have always bought my EQ games from EB... They deliver pretty fast, and most always have the games in stock.. I ordered EoF from them, as well... By the way Welcome... It is much improved, in spite of all the Naysayers and the continuing complaints about SoE... Just remember that the ppl who complain all the time, spend ALL of their time complaining... The people who support the game, are too busy enjoying it to waste their time with positive PR...
