I have decided to try and make a guild video I am looking for some kind of video editing software and since all the eq2 video's pop up around here I figure it was a good place to look. I would prefer free if possible but recognize that not all the free stuff is eithier good or friendly to use.

Free and easy to use, Windows Movie Maker (assuming you have Windows of course) It's under Start > (All) Programs > Accessories If you don't have it, you should be able to download it from www.microsoft.com after doing a quick Windows validation. I make most of my videos on it since it's free and the quality is pretty good and small file sizes.

Yepps WMM is great if u use the standart screenresolution! But be warned if You run in widescreen mode (like 1680 x 1050). I have not been able to keep the ration when compressing my frapsed movies with WMM, and ended always up with some normal screen resolution - ending up making my movies look squezzed I've asked around, but failed to find a decent SW for widescreen resolutions

As the others have said Windows Movie Maker is a very capeable package that comes free with Windows and Ive seen some great movies made with it.

Personally, WMM kept crashing on me so fed up with that I bought Roxio Media Creator 8 which as well as doing movies has a good photo and music editing suite (plus other stuff I havent begun to look at) which was only around £45 (aprox $90 US).

Looking forward to welcoming another video maker to our community

Mori

well may need to hold off the welcomes till its actually done, and quite frankly I'm lazy when it comes to very long projects and would have to organize the rest of the guild and get them to do something for the video

Right now I'm using Magix Movie Edit Pro. I'm liking it. It's advanced, yet easy to use. I've also used Roxio and it was good, but not nearly as good as Magix.

If your WMM is crashing you either need to upgrade to the newer version or reinstall DX9c and / or video card drivers. I had an issue with WMM crashing for awhile, didn't take long to fix.
