Since this facility has not been available for at least a year and certainly not at all since the server switch and revamp I suggest that you remove this as an option from the guild window. I can't remember how many threads there have been over the period complaining about this and your stock response, when given, is "This is a known issue". Well, known issues should be dealt with at some point surely? If, as it seems, the solution is beyond your capabilities I suggest you remove guild chat from the advertised options on the EQ2 Players website. It is one of the facilities advertised and consequently part of the service we pay for with our increased subscription. I would suggest you are sailing fairly close to the wind regarding taking monies for services you have no intention of providing. In the UK this would fall under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and I presume that similar laws exist in the USA as well. Under this legislation traders must supply the goods or services as described. In this case you have had ample time to remedy your default and I believe you are compounding the issue by increasing the subscription.

This is NOT a flame, rather a suggested course of action you should consider to avoid legal liability. I stress, you are taking monies (and increasing that subscription) partly for services you advertise and yet appear to have no intention of providing.

Interesting, as it's been working perfectly for me for the past year. I just tried it 30 secs ago, and it's still working. I logged into my guild chat using this URL: http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...?guildId=783104 What symptoms do you have? What troubleshooting steps did you take?

I am not alone in not being able to access this feature by any means. I have over the months attempted to log onto guild chat from 3 different computers, in 3 separate locations, using 3 different operating systems. I would also add that I used to use the service for many months prior to it going offline. This has been a known issue in all that time and yet no-one seems that bothered in finding out why it is happening. I suppose that if it works ok for a few then SOE can ascribe the reason to user-end problems.

The chat screen is there but blank and eventually the warning message

warning: [408-2] Server Error: During login

appears.

Hmmm.....I wonder if it is anything to do with the fact that our guild doesn't use an eq2 website but rather has its own bespoke site?

Any ideas SOE? Or are we and oh so many others meant to labour without this for another year or so?

My guild has its own non-SOE-hosted site, and I've (almost) always been able to login to guild chat. The only time I remember having real issues with it was when I was on dial-up for a few months year before last. The chat screen took so long to load that the script just timed out and threw back an error message like the one you're experiencing.

I recall that for a while, the URL on our EQ2 Guild website didn't work, but the one on our guild summary page worked. I believe the one I posted (and which I added to our custom guild website menu) is the one from our guild summary site.

I just tried - when I use that link, it simply brings me back to the eq2players frontpage despite being logged in. That might be the problem - the link on the guild summary page would be borked. Try using the link I pasted, but replacing the GuildID at the end with your guild's (just check the URL of your guild summary page to obtain it). If it works, then this might give more clues to SOE about where the problem actually is.

I don't think I am expressing myself clearly here.

I can get to the web chat page. I am asked to select the toon I want to chat as and, as likely as not, the webchat screen appears. It is just that it is devoid of player names and the summary of player types online just has the word "true" next to all four types. I can type into the chat box but nothing appears on the scrolling chat window. Nothing appears in game either, I have checked.

Don't forget, I have used the facility in the past and know what to expect. The chat window appears. it is just not working for me and many others. I have tried the system with Windows 98, Windows 2000 and XP sp2. I have tries using IE (the last 2 versions) as well as Firefox. I have tried it on 3 entirely separate computers using various forms of firewalls and virus protection, including none at all.

Is it possibly an issue with the servers I am being routed through? I am in the UK. I would stress that this USED to work up until about a year ago. In that time I have not changed my ISP however that should be irrelevent as I have tried it on other computers as well.

I will try to post a screenshot of what I am experiencing. Hopefully others with the same problem will be able to do the same.
