This topics been done to death i imagine countless times but really none of the ones i searched up answer it in the way i'm asking so i apologise for the repost of sorts. Looking to play with a friend, both new but with great mmo experience and just want a nice duo to have fun on. I've had some experience with a necro and found them to be great so im really wondering if partnering up say a conj + necro would be best, or would it be better to do something like a beserker and fury? Ultimately we like a challenge and would ideally try to do stuff thats quite tough for a duo while still being able to work together effectively at other times. With so many classes and abilities to choose from its not easy to choose between a standard healer/tank combo or a pair of high dps casters etc hence why im looking for suggestions. Obviously we cant twink these chars so out of the box power helps a fair bit. On a side note, any pve servers with decent population and a European community of any sort?

I personally think a fury can heal any tank class, however, we can prolly heal guardians better than zerkers. Shammy's wards or cleric's reactives may be better for the damage they take which seems like a bit more than guardians. A good fury can heal any tank class really, if they know their spell lines. Tank/healer combos are great for duoing because you have a ready made group right there! Unofficially, I think Najena is the Aussie/euro server (pve) so you may want to check out their boards under the Server Communities forums. Good luck and welcome to Norrath!!
Heh. Najena is the unofficial Aussie server, however since Aussie time is almost exactly OPPOSITE from Europe, that won't really help much. The good news is there are European servers! Try Splitpaw or Runnyeye, check out their forums on these boards if you want to see what they're like. (The sticky FAQ post at the top of this forum has more server information.)

The fear on the double root makes [Removed for Content] sure that when one, or BOTH roots break, the mob wont be in our face. We also push some awesome dps with that duo. And since a necro have a 100% fd, and res and can heal a slight bit, we have enough utility for when we get in on the deep end. Its all about how you wanna play. If putting a meatshield in front of the mobs is your thing, I'd go for a dps tank, brawler, sk or zerk. (This is also the easier approach). Pair that up with a healer if you want easy sailing, preferably a healer that can dps, such as a druid or a dps specced inquisitor. If you want to burn stuff down fast, go with a dps class, perhaps the necro, since you get one heal (Two if you go for the extra heal in the KoS aas). If you go with the dps setting, you might wanna pick the sk, because, not only do they do dps, but they also self heal. Two strong solo classes together make quite an awesome duo. If you want some odd combinations, the warlock/necro one is surprisingly good, there are a few others though. A double enchanter duo is quite interresting, but is kindof hard to get your head around. Two scouts (perhaps assassins) can bounce the aggro back and forth to last long enough against hard opponents Two healers will be a fun experiment, and you should be able to handle most mobs in the game. Just go with one plate healer and let them tank it.

I duo with my roommate who is a defiler. I run on a brigand. I find that the assistance of his buff spells and healing compliments my dps quite well against named mobs and such. I also set out the other day with a guild mate who runs on a shadow knight. I'm not sure why we were so productive since we didn't have a healer with us, but it seemed to work just fine. As for PvP.. if that's your cup of tea.. you'll definitely want a healer on hand who is on their toes. Especially, when you stumble upon a group of folks with the "5-10 people are mandatory when screwing in a light bulb" philosophy.

Another really nub question. my only experience is on pvp servers...which was horrific for a new player. On a pve server do you have the option to quest with the opposite faction in their low level areas etc + can you enter their city?

Once you are able to quest outside of city areas, you can group with other side, the trick is getting together. There are a few different ways to to that. You can buy a boat ticket for 60silver from harbor master in Qeynos Harbor and somewhere in Freeport, but I don't know where specifically and do some questing right around dock areas. Or you can take a boat to Butcherblock from TS or Nek docks and quest there. You can get together in Antonica and in Commonlands by taking the spires to opposite side if you have KoS. But you should not go into the cities of opposite side as you will be attacked by the guards. I know in commonlands, Qeynos side will be attacked at crossroads by guards, not sure if same is true for freeporters in Antonica. Welcome Norrath

My husband and I have played a LOT of duos and our fury/berserker combo works better than any of the other combinations we have tried.

Gotta agree with Pipes here.

Any healer can heal any tank. That said, a shaman has the easiest time with a brawler, and a cleric has the easiest time with a plate tank, while the druids don't really care who they're healing one way or the other.

(Well, not anything like on pvp servers) you can group, have crossover guilds and mail stuff between Q<->FP
