I'm playing a monk in Faydark (wood elf and half-elf characters) but am confused by the Gods system. My daughter tells me Marr or Quellious would be best for me but isn't specific as to why. Can I get some advice? WHY would a monk choose one god over the other?

Your opinion on this is much appreciated.

Each god grants different miracles to the people that worship them. As to exactly what the difference is between the miracles of those two dieties and the rest, I am not sure.

Also, keep in mind, there are "Good" and "Evil" dieties. To be completely honest with you, I haven't reached this point with any of my toons, so I can't tell you for certain what the difference is.

There are also 'neutral' gods that citizens of any city can worship. All gods grant blessings (10 minutes abilities) and miracles (1 minute abilities) to their followers. What ones are available to a character depend on the quests that they have completed (the last of the five quests is generally level 70) and the favor that they have developed with his/her deity. Mithaniel Marr, the god of valor, grants blessings and miracles that benefit melee characters. There is also a pet and eventually a cloak which also are good for melee characters. Quellious is the goddess of tranquility, and is the traditional (lore-wise) deity of monks. Her blessings and miracles tend to center around power regen, hate reduction and some crowd control abilities. The other options for a monk are Tunare (nature), Solusek Ro (fire) and Brell (underground races, crafting, earth). Tunare is favored by healers, Sol Ro by mages and Brell... isn't followed by many. edit: From a roleplay perspective, Tunare is the patron goddess of Kelethin, so from that view any character that starts in Kelethin could have a good reason to worship her, even though they might not get much benefit (in terms of abilities) from it.
