Hi All,

I just come back to EQ II, it has been about a year and I notived something strange and I wanted to know if I am right and if someone can give me answers.

The isle of refuge is used to be max level 6, now it is lvl 9. When did this change?

Here is my biggest question. When you used to get off the island all the starting zones had multiple quests for you, I went asround to all the zones ( willow wood, Baubbleshire, etc ) there are barely any starter quest anymore. What happened ? Did they take those away because they up the lvl on the island? Please let me know.

           Thank You

Everquest 2 ... Thousands or quests removed since launch!

Yeppers, took a TON of quests out several months ago. Making it impossible for a new character to get the quest count of older players. Appearently Everquest is just a name... its more like Forabout1yearstimebeforeweremovethequest.

Ignore Macavity. There's still a ton of quests and now they even make more sense too.

Here's my answer from the other thread:

What happened (probably 6 months to a year ago now) was that the quests were revised and put into a sequential timeline (the racial quest series, and then the subsequent quest lines in the newbie adventure zones) instead of having little random unconnected quests here and there scattered all over with no pattern. Call it a quest relocation and revision, I guess. The one-off quests that had you running here and there fairly randomly were mostly removed, and instead there's a more directed quest line. You'll have noticed there are "racial mentors" standing at the docks in the newbie villages - these now start you off on your questing when you arrive in your home village, and direct you on to the newbie adventure zones after that. On the whole the overall result was fewer quests in the actual living areas, and more quests in the tier 1 adventure zones. Some of the quests that were in the newbie villages have been relocated directly into the newbie adventure zones (for example, the 'joining the gang' quest that used to be in Beggar's Court is now transplanted straight into Sunken City) whereas for others, the old quest was removed but the quest reward has been given to a new quest (for example, the Starcrest Commune quest where you had to catch the kitty is no more, but the wooden pet cage quest reward is now given out in the tier 1 adventure zone quests for both Qeynos and Freeport now). There's still plenty of quests out there to do, hope you enjoy discovering the new ones!

Hiya bowl!

Yes, now it can seem quite daunting to new players without the needed quest help, but let me give you a bit of advice.

First off, stay on the newbie Island to level 8 or so. That way you will be okay. Then go to Qeynos, grab your mentor quest, then run around each of the hamlet areas gaining exp for discovering the special spots like fountains, and grab the few quests there. This should then net you enough exp to head to Oakmyst forest, Forest Ruins and the Caves to do those new quests in there for armor (in that order, Caves is the hardest)

After you do all this, you should be prepared enough to head out into Antonica.

Hope this helps, and above all don't get discouraged!

Thank all...Just to be clear it's not that I don't know what to do. I had a level 30 guardian the last time I played. I was just confused when I started to play ageain and realized alot of stuff had changed. Did anything else change that I should be aware of in the last year?

Actually I have a transmuter trash collector on isle and accidently dinged 10 cause tI thought it maxed at 9. Needless to say everything grayed out and I had to make a new one. So I dont know what the cap is but I also dont know how you would level to 11 or higher casue theres nothing to kill that gives xp.

There's no level cap on the island at all now ... I know a guy who got to 35 there, just to see if he could. (You can start killing guards eventually ... though that pretty much means you'll be KOS on arrival if you ever DO leave the island!)

Other things that have changed ... hm! It's hard to remember which is new and which is old when you've been playing all along. You might want to browse through the forum where all the game updates are posted, that'll give you the overview. Things that spring to mind ... there was another (smaller) combat revamp and stat caps were all changed, primary stats for scout classes were adjusted, in-home sales now works different (house vaults are not involved, you don't have to stay online, and carpenters make containers to sell in-home). Achievements are new, obviously a lot of new zones are new and level caps have been raised. Tinkering and transmuting have been added, the Fae race is new, mentoring works much better, and um ... probably hundreds more things i forgot!
