Just a piece of info I should pass down. Just go for str at this stage of the game - things will come to you as you progress through the game.

My advice would be delete your toon and re-roll on a PvP server. Can't see the point of PvE myself. There's no achievment in it. And no PvP gear <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Other people have pretty much touched on everything, but I'll throw in my 2 cents because i'm sure someone cares....right?/sniff 1.Besides a few starting differences in statistics, does it matter in the long run what race I play with? Is there a race whose Racial attributes are intrinsically better for the assassin class? <span style="color: #006600">Race really doesnt matter at all. Play what you think looks best. The racial abilities are all pretty crap in the end so don't choose a race based on them =P <span style="color: #000000">2. </span></span>I have narrowed down the choice for my tradeskills between Alchemy and Jewelcrafting. As I understand it, with the latest expansion the prices of Adept and Master skills has significantly raised, possibly making Jewelcrafting more alluring. Any feedback about this is much appreciated. <span style="color: #006600">As others have said, alchemy you'll get more out of in the long run with poisons and whatnot. You'll rip thru poisons faster than you'd think. Jewelery will probly net you more money. However, most guilds have crafters that'll make you stuff for cost, but you might have to wait for them to make it for you. Alchemists can also make fighter CAs, jewelers get scout CAs and jewelery. Flip a coin I guess =) <span style="color: #000000">3. </span></span>Which are the principal stats that benefit my assassin the most and what do they do? <span style="color: #006600">If you're just starting out STR is the only thing to worry about really. You're nothing besides damage, the more damage you do the better. Later you can worry about INT, in the 50+ level range if you want. <span style="color: #000000">4. </span></span>For a player that has never played Everquest II before, is it worth it to try to make my way from the Commonlands to Faydwer or should I stick to the Commonlands? <span style="color: #006600">Get to atleast level 10 and start doing all the quests you can in the Commonlands to get AAs, you're going to want to explore for discovery AAs too so you'll eventually want to head over to Faydwer. You might get more groups out in Gfay with people playing faes and all but it varies from server to server. Gfay also has a ton of quests but beware there are some guards deep in keletin that dont care much for assassins =) <span style="color: #000000">5. </span></span>Does it matter if I choose dual wield piercing or slashing weapons? Are there any high level skills that require piercing weapons over slashing and viceversa? <span style="color: #006600">Just get one of each to keep your stills up. Later on it looks like you're best bet is piercers, but keep your slash up so you don't have to worry about skilling it up later. I suggest trying to get mastercrafted playermade weapons as a top priority, then work on the armor. There are Armor Quests at level 20 for some free armor. Also, do a lot of harvesting, you can sell the rares you harvest for a nice chunk of change or turn them into something for yourself. <span style="color: #000000">6. </span></span>I played Everquest extensively. From what I have read there is also Haste items in Everquest II. Is this game like EQ in which only one haste item, the one that provides the highest haste modifier, benefits the character or do several haste items stack? <span style="color: #006600">Its basically the same. You can have 1 haste item and haste buffs. Other assassins can probly go more in depth on giving you the specifics. <span style="color: #000000">7. </span></span>Is there any God in particular that offers better-than-average Blessings/Miracles for Assassins? If so, which? <span style="color: #006600">The assassin god of choice is Rallos Zek. His blessings/miracles can boost your DPS quite nicely. Also the god pet you get ups your STR.</span>

- Go for the two highest dual-wielding weapons you can afford. Later you will want to be more careful about certain characteristics but until level 60 or so it doesn't really matter. - Max your STR. - Always use a RED poison (damage). Don't worry too much about the others. - Tradeskill for an assassin is alchemy. Or transmuting, I guess. - Around level 30 (32?) you get a spell that will significantly increase your damage. Until then rangers and sorcerers may do more damage than you.. stick with it. We are fun. If you want an alternative 'rogue' type you could also look at brigand or swashbuckler. - Go wherever you can to get groups. You'll get XP much faster as an assassin backstabbing things. Most of your damage comes from there.

Another debuffs stats or resistis (e.g., Warding Ebb, Enfeebling, Gracelessness), and the third debuffs effects like haste, movement speed, or hate (e.g., Turgur's (sp?), Ignorante Bliss). While it is true that you always want to have a damage poison up, it is incorrect that you should not worry about the others much because you can actually stack up to three poisons as long as you take one from each type. So while you could not have both Caustic and Hemotoxin up at the same time because they come from the same type, you could, for instance, run Caustic (damage), Gracelessness (agility and defense debuff), and Essence of Turgur's (Haste debuff) all at the same time since they come from the three different types.</p><p>Early on, you choices will be pretty limited, and, at first, all you will have available is a damage poison. But eventually, you will start to see the other two classes of poisons become available. Once you do, be sure to use all three.</p>

Poisons are very very limited till T6. I believe the only choices you get are Damage: Caustic or Hemo Debuff: Wisdom/magic resist debuff Secondary Debuff: Snare, Slow, or Deagro There might be something I missed in the debuff line but once you get 50 (52 for rare poisons) you get into the lifetaps, mana taps, gracelessness, etc. I mean, you should try to use all 3 if you can. But it isnt always necessary, dependant on group members. Once into t6 its basically a must to run 3 all the time. I just got 58, I run rare t6 Caustic (mental breach if mana is an issue, but normally its not), gracelessness, and ignorant bliss. It pays off huge dividends. I havent run any huge parses on it but from glancing at my keyboard as I play I can go from 4-500 without poisons to 700-1k with them.

Using non-dmg poisons in groups is dumb. You don't need them at all. Just a money drain. If you got money to burn then sure. Soloing or something like a duo is different.

Everything I'm filling out has pertinence only if you are deciding to level to 70 and fulfill all your AA's. Also, welcome to EQ2, you came at a good time, server merges are coming and a lot of exploits/bugs have been fixed. //================================================ Besides a few starting differences in statistics, does it matter in the long run what race I play with? Is there a race whose Racial attributes are intrinsically better for the assassin class? Personally I would choose Ogre, although stupidly large, in an ogre-esque fashion (durr lol), they have a high natural defense and have many racial abilities that you can choose as you level up to give you more defense and more HP. Pure Stats(AGI, STR, STA, WIS, INT) can always be acquired through itemization. MAX HP and avoidance is much harder to come by. As a player from EQ1 im pretty sure you know how important HP is. //================================================ I have narrowed down the choice for my tradeskills between Alchemy and Jewelcrafting. As I understand it, with the latest expansion the prices of Adept and Master skills has significantly raised, possibly making Jewelcrafting more alluring. Any feedback about this is much appreciated. Go for alchemy if your are going to 70. It is a huge source of money. and this money can go towards paying jewelers to making your adept 3 skills. //================================================ Which are the principal stats that benefit my assassin the most and what do they do? Everything but wisdom, but you will also want to prioritize what stats you look for first. Str you will want to cap out first. Then its up to you to either move for AGI or INT or STA. I'm assuming you love to PvP. So this choice is up to you. AGI = more avoidance(avoidance is kinda unreliable in this game), STA = more time to live = more time to DPS your opponent = more time to react, INT = more poison/proc damage from your items. More or less add these points after str to suit your playstyle. DONT FORGET RESISTS ARE IMPORTANT TOO AT LEVEL 70!! //================================================ For a player that has never played Everquest II before, is it worth it to try to make my way from the Commonlands to Faydwer or should I stick to the Commonlands? explore plenty and learn the terrain and use it to pvp to your advantage. The more you learn about the game, the more of an edge you get on your opponents //================================================ Does it matter if I choose dual wield piercing or slashing weapons? Are there any high level skills that require piercing weapons over slashing and viceversa?Dun matter unless your lookng for a specific type of itemization. Certain items give u +pierce or + slash, and sometimes both. These modifiers make your toHit chance higher and your damage rolls damage ranger more near the top end. But until 70 i suggest using 1 slash, 1 pierce that are dual wield type to keep your innate weapon skill with each high. //================================================ I played Everquest extensively. From what I have read there is also Haste items in Everquest II. Is this game like EQ in which only one haste item, the one that provides the highest haste modifier, benefits the character or do several haste items stack? Only one item will haste you like EQ1, but haste adornments stack so i hear. Ill test it out and tell you. //================================================ Is there any God in particular that offers better-than-average Blessings/Miracles for Assassins? If so, which? Rallos Zek the war god. one of the begining abilities is called Zek's rending it makes all your combat arts do eithet 10 or 15% more damage for some short tiem span, which is rediculously awsome.

Non-damage poisons can help you to do more dps and/or make the mobs do less dps as well as decreasing your hate. Not to mention with frontload AA ability ALL poisons do damage.</p><p><cite>Kradun wrote:</cite></p><blockquote>STA = more time to live = more time to DPS your opponent = more time to react</blockquote><p>STA is nearly as worthless as WIS, the best way to get HP is from items with +hp and adornments with +hp.</p>

As an assassin defense skills is insanly easy to cap so that's not important either. A scout race would be a much better choice for an assassin: Arasai, Fae, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, Gnome, Ratonga, Halfling.<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Halfling_%28EQ2_Character_Race%29"></a></span></p>

<p><cite>Jessa wrote:</cite></p><blockquote>Hello, After being bored to death in World of Warcraft I decided to give Everquest II a shot. I must admit that I am having a lot of fun and it boggles me that the game is not more popular considering how well put together it is. After much deliveration I have settled for an assassin as the class to play in this game and I was hoping that a few of my newbie questions would be answered. <ol><li>Besides a few starting differences in statistics, does it matter in the long run what race I play with? Is there a race whose Racial attributes are intrinsically better for the assassin class?<span style="color: #00ccff;">-Arasai, Fae, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, Gnome, Ratonga, Halfling all make good scouts but Ratonga are the best looking. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" /></span></li><li>I have narrowed down the choice for my tradeskills between Alchemy and Jewelcrafting. As I understand it, with the latest expansion the prices of Adept and Master skills has significantly raised, possibly making Jewelcrafting more alluring. Any feedback about this is much appreciated.<span style="color: #00ccff;">-Personally I would pick alchemist because you will always need more and more poisons but skills are a 1 time thing.</span></li><li>Which are the principal stats that benefit my assassin the most and what do they do?<span style="color: #00ccff;">-STR: +Autoattack/CA Damage-AGI: +Power, avoidance-INT: +Poison DamageFocuse roughly equally on STR and AGI, save INT as a last choice since it barely affects poison damage.</span></li><li>For a player that has never played Everquest II before, is it worth it to try to make my way from the Commonlands to Faydwer or should I stick to the Commonlands?<span style="color: #00ccff;">-It depends on a lot really. The true easiest places to start are Neriak and Timourous deep because they have very fluid questlines.</span></li><li>Does it matter if I choose dual wield piercing or slashing weapons? Are there any high level skills that require piercing weapons over slashing and viceversa?<span style="color: #00ccff;">-Piercing weapons are the primary weapon type for assassins but it's always good to keep your slashing skill up too.</span></li><li>I played Everquest extensively.
