ok guys i have pulled my pally off the shelf.... first thing i notice is the avoidance is horrible..and resists have been nerfed to crap, but i think they are made up well with the eof collection quests and adding +wisdom in the hero line.. i know my magic and divine resists near 6k ungrouped, mental just over 3200, disease and poison around 4k, i really need to get the other eof collections done to get those items...

yesterday i logged him in and got a few of collections done for my pally , collected the shinies with my zerker and got a couple of aa's for like 4 collection quests.. 2 of them were the eof collections..

armor wise i'm ok, have relic helm. firebrand gauntlets and forearms, and scalelord greaves and shoulder, dark majestic sabatons.. draconic deflector and ancient velium battle hammer [the 1hander]...

so the story goes, i was in offensive stance pretty much the whole day, guardian was MT. started in oblesk of blight, got another roughly 1 1/2 achievements.. then went to unrest.... both places i had the parser running... i won the torklars battlehammer<- very nice 2 hander for a pally like 90.6 damage rating, so i had to equip it for sure, had grizzfazzles sword... as we moved through these zones i was loving it with my pally, i think these places were made for paladins.. parsing very nice numbers all day... topping several fights with 1200dps and for a single group thats pretty darn nice for a paladin... my beserker can do that pretty much when i want to, but previously i had problems with my pally getting anywhere near these numbers...

i need to get adornments for intelligence, and get some blocking adornments, and a parry adornment for forearms, agility adornment on gaunlets, and i think i can get my avoidance up in the low to mid 50ish range... I think with these new undead zones oob, valdoon, and unrest a paladin can have a place to excel. and possibly even main tank very well, with a good paladin group make up of course..

so are paladins tanking eof stuff ok, good, or not worth a crap? it seems like they should be doing well in these places, even in the raid zones ,so how they fairing in these new raid zones?

Ummm so far so good. I only raid with my paladin, so I guess things are good. I haven't even done Obelisk of Blight, yet. Unrest was a nice break from raiding but otherwise, I'm doing fine in raids, but I think your question is geared more towards grouping/instance paladins. /shrug

Chop, from what I can tell there hasn't been any major adjustments to the class that would have changed their ability to tank from when you retired your Pally.

I've tanked in Mistmore Catacombs in less than quality gear, but I think you will still find that raids will prefer the Guard to the Pally, so... Not much change on that front.

/shrug

I'll be honest, I've been playing my defiler more than my Paladin recently, due to some IRL issues my guild isn't playing as much (or as consistantly) right now and I hate pick up groups. Plus I really don't have much to really do on Jal anymore since I hit 70, except raid and well... I've not had much luck with that so far

I haven't raided eof yet.

I tank every single-group zone in eof just fine, with the exception of CMM last time I tried it--in crappy gear. Much better gear now so I will be trying again soon.

Unrest is really not that hard a zone. It is just long, and you have to learn it a little. As far as sheer raw difficulty I don't put it above CMM.

ChopStix wrote:
can you not read the last line of my post? /shrug
Itoock (Dissolution) said he has tanked basically everything. I would imagine they prefer their Guardian or Zerker but (shrug) there you have it Paladins have tanked it all. As for me, my assassin has tanked more raid mobs than my Paladin. Ok so mmmaaybe they were a bit debuffed first

I would say both paladins and shadowknights "can" be stable tanking eof raid zones. Many people would prefer a guardian or zerker though because of their high avoidance and mitigation (through temporary buffs). Normally crusaders can encounter more spike damage from mobs than a warrior class or maybe that's just me thinking that
