View Full Version : Wondering if I should come back

Right before EoF came out, I decided to take a break from EQ2 because of Real Life commitments and left my 65 Troubador parked in Qeynos Harbor. Since my classes end April 18th and I'l have the whole summer to spend in Norrath, I was wondering if you guys could tell me what has changed in the months that I've been gone. Simply, will my Trouby be so different that I wont be able to play him? Have the devs nerfed us so much in these few months that my Troub will be even more gimped than he was before?

Basically, is my Troubador still worth playing? Or when I come back should I just focus on my alts?

IMO EQ2 is a great game. My recommendation is come back and play whatever you enjoy playing. I prefer my alts, but still enjoy my troubadour from time-to-time.

Only log my troob if anyone needs her buffs for raids or such. Still p'd off I wasted so much time levelling her. Play an alt - I do. What alts do you have?

I can save you the trouble of leveling your troubador to 70. Play mine for a month and quit the game entirely.

On a serious note, it is a good thing that we are allowed alts or faced with the reality of a Troubador at 70 and nothing more...well I would quit. Moose is allways game to log in and mail my alts platinum when needed, or to make the odd person who asks the alts to log Moose in and make a junky interm weapon for them.

Moose

Thanks Spider for actually answering my question. I didn't mind playing my troub when I left and if not much more has changed since before EoF then I might give him a try especially to see Kaladim and other higher level EoF zones.

People give non favorable answers, those are all wrong, 1 person says something good and that's the "right" answer? Don't ask a question if you know what you want to hear then. I say come back cause EQ2 is a great game, but I find that all the other classes I'm playing are funner than my troub.

Okay guys, I think this has gotten a little out of hand.

I know all about the abundant shortcommings of the Troubador class, I did play one for 65 levels. I remember having no DPS, severely gimmped utility and almost no reason to stay at the keyboard other than starting a HO. Even if I didn't play a Troub halfway through T7, I could have read all about the problems the class has at that level on any number of posts on this forum- the subject has been beaten to death.

I only wanted to know if the devs had nerfed us to the degree they did when they broke charm and mez in the same patch since November. It seems they haven't so after I run my Warden through a few levels I'll be sure to take my good ole Trouby through some EoF zone a few times for nostalgia from EQLive and old times sake for my first toon in EQ2.

Thanks guys but we can close the books on this one.

> I only wanted to know if the devs had nerfed us to the degree they did when > they broke charm and mez in the same patch since November.

"Have they nerfed us any more?" might have been a better title, then. People here are somewhat unhappy with how troubadours have been treated. That doesn't make them part of a "bitter brigade," nor has the subject been "beaten to death." It will remain a suitable subject for this board as long as there are people who want to play their troubadour.

To answer the question: No new nerfs since the one you have spoken of. Just a couple small boosts as spider says. I guess they think the old nerfs were sufficient.

right before i quit, right after the recent changes I respeced my aa's from a raid setup to a dps/solo/group setup for shield and double attack along with most of str line and ill tell you doing group stuff was very fun and it makes you actually feel powerful and you can push out some great dps, but I only enjoy that in small doses. I quit mainly because raiding as a troub became boring and repetitive and even with the tons of new gear, you know that none of it will realy help you advance your charachter much.

so i guess what im trying to say is that if your coming back to raid, you may be dissappointed, but if you enjoyed the solo/single group stuff you will probly enjoy playing

I am sorry my last post was a bit negative and not constructive, we should try and be positive about the class and find its good points and go with that. I just don`t like people dwelling on the negative aspects of the class and the pitfalls which, while obvious after the numerous developer "adjustments" shouldn`t be the main focus of debate or discussion within the troub forums.

Please think of 5 positive things the troub offers to the game.

I guess I disagree with you about what should or should not be the main focus of the troubadour board. As far as five positive things the troubadour brings:

Aria's Bria's Reverie (once you are 70, except in raids.) Alin's Precision of the Maestro (once you are 58.) Jester's Cap (once you are 65.)

See - I thought of 6.

Hi. I'm roces9, I'm the OP. I would like to thank you all for your wonderfull information. I decided to finally get my troub to level 70 and I am having a blast running instances and I am soloing stuff a little better than I remember. And just like you guys said I really am not that fond of raiding right now. I don't feel like I contribute much, even though all the casters in my guild love me for my fire and forget buffs. That being said, we do not need to keep using this thread for the ever raging "Troubs are teh fuxin sux" vs. "Don't trash caster support!" debate. Please, just let this thread die. Thank you.
