Shadows ability - What am I doing wrong?

<p>Just dinged 22 Assassin last night. I was in a group in Fallen Gate with a SK that was our tank (level 21). Occasionally I would get aggro, not often,  so I'm still learning to control my dps and use my hate reducing CA's. Now here's the question. One of those hate reducing CA's, Shadows, is suppose to "Reduce the amount of hate that the assassin accumulates and transfers it to an ally".  Not once during the evening did I ever get that to work. Targeting the SK and fighting through him, this CA didn't work, nor by using my "Assist" macro to have the mob as my target and have the SK targeted through the mob did it work. The message "Will not take effect" always popped up. </p><p>What must one do to be able to get this CA to work?</p>

When you join a group, find out who the tank is, target them and cast it. It will remian in effect as long as you're grouped with the tank. </p><p>Recast it if you die.</p>

If you mouse over it (I think) it will show who you have the spell on.
