View Full Version : Musing on Arrows

I was just musing on arrows. In the beginning it took 3 1/3 combines to make 25 arrows with a bunch of raws. That's 137 combines per 1000. There were no quivers, either. (That 1/3 was a pristine arrowhead.) Then it took 1 combine to make 25 arrows, and raws quantities were greatly reduced. 40 combines per 1000. Now it's 1 combine to make 100 arrows. 10 combines per 1000. Plus all arrows display their stats. This is one place I don't think anyone can complain about "dumbing down". Finally arrows are cost effective to produce! I used to only make them for guildies at cost + tip. Now they're worth investing a little time in. I already have regular customers in four Tiers. I'm glad they finally came through on arrows. Just the display alone is something that is absolutely fantastic. I'm also glad they finally reduced the cost to make them to make them effective competition for the NPC sold (I always used to buy crafted anyway). I'm also glad they made CAs not use them to reduce the DPS costs of the rangers. Now that CAs don't use arrows but the crafted are demonstrably better than the NPC sold, I think it's really going to improve the sales, too, even with rangers using fewer overall (because they will be encouraged to not buy the tin ones anymore). Arrows are, in my opinion, a success story. I hope the rest of the ammo gets the same treatment (and, now that arrows are so much better, maybe thrown ammo can go back to weaponsmiths to help them out, too).

Yep. I had even stopped crafting arrows for everyone but myself since if I did it would have taken all my play time just to support the guild rangers. I have now sent out mails to my other guild rangers saying I can make their arrows now lol. Combined with the change to ranger CAs so that they do not consume arrows this is great news! .

I made about 10,000 arrows on Friday, and they were all sold by Sunday morning. I was super cheap compared to the only other person selling them...but it was still a markup of 10x over cost for me; I just couldn't charge 50x like the other person was and still look in the mirror.

On the other hand, as long as it took to make 10,000 arrows, and as fast as they sold... i can't keep up with the demand either, so maybe I should just up my prices a bit, and turn off reflections in the display options?

I'm curious how you wood workers are handling the inventory of all these stacks of arrows. We rangers need to buy many stacks at once. Like, on the order of 15 or more stacks (1500 arrows). And that's just for one ranger.

Seems like your salesmen creates would be filling up really fast with nothing but arrows, and then depleated after selling to only a few rangers. I imagine there were quite a few woodworkers buying up the Woodworking creates after LU32.

Weapons racks hold arrows. With 80 slots you can stock 8000 arrows in one Ebony Weapons Rack.
