Hello All,

We are a two guild alliance who are missing a few classes that we fill using pickups. We ventured into freethinkers hideout for the first time last saturday. It was a load of fun with some massive repair bills afterward. We managed to kill the first two named but just couldn't get it together to kill the third named. Can anyone please give us some advice on the following

1. Werewolves inside the door.

When we zoned in there were three werewolves on top of each other. We attempted a proxy pull on one of em and wiped straight away when we got all three, and a few more that seemed to come from nowhere. We then discovered the bones on either side of the entrance and guessed that we should throw both bones, clearing away two of the werewolves temporarily as we tried to grab the middle one. This looked like it was working and we pulled the middle one back to the door but then the rest came anyway. I dont know how we did it but we managed to survive and killed em all. Is this normal? Is there a way to get just one at a time?

2. Exploding Barrell

We called an official afk after the first named. When I came back someone on the raid had found this exploding barell and blew it up. It didnt repop so we were unable to determine its purpose. We did notice 4 walls along the way that looked like we should have tried to blow up. What is the purpose ofthis barrell and has it anything to do with the difficulty of the third named?

3. The third named

We decided to tank this one in the far left corner of the room. I read on a post somewhere that this named has two AE attacks. One short range on 20 second timer, knock back, trauma based and a second one that is distance based. We had someone stand in the tank spot and used a fury buff with a 10 meter range to measure the distance from there. We placed the remains of the broken barrell on the 10 meter mark. We all entered the room and ran to the 10 meter mark whilst the MT pulled the named into the corner. We all fought from the 10 meter mark and melee based classes only went in to cast debuffs and TS (AE timer extender). We backed off DPS when we were 2% from the memwipe points and it all seemed to be going well. Then all of a sudden, both tanks were dead. I am guessing that someone people on the raid did not back off at the memwipe point and their spells got refected on to the MT. Do you think that was it or is there something I am missing?

All advice gratefully received. I know we really should try to figure this out on our own but we are not a hardcore guild and we dont have the time or the resources to do this.

Muraha

The barrel is to complete the Blackwater mask quest. low up one of the walls to loot the item from the quest and return it to the guy in Somborn.

As far as the 3rd named, do not forget that Searing Rot has a mulitiplier on it. For every person it hit that mupliplies the damage done to the tank on the dot. So if three poeple get hit the dot hits for 3 times the amount. This gets us sometimes. It to many get hit with it your tank does not have a chance he will go down like a Prom Queen.

Searing rot is tricky. it actualy is being cast off the position of the people who are thrown into the air and rooted when they land. Its shows up on them as a trauma, it is called "contagious lockdown"

so in essence you see a bunch of people get thrown into the air 6 of them will have this trauma dot on them, if not cured withing 2-3 seconds....its gona hurt a lot as the ae will start casting off their location

hope this helps

Aha! I think that was it. The searing Rot thing. I guess if too many people had this on them and not cured it would hit the tank hard. Ok , so maybe i try the same strat as last time but this time I'll give everyone "Cure Trauma" potions. Any ideas on the werewolves at the entrance? We we just lucky or do you have to kill em all together?

Hiya As you will see from my original post we did find the bones but we were unclear on how exactly to use em as we ended up with all the mobs anyway. Do you..

a) Throw left bone, pull left mob, kill. Throw right bone, pull right mob, kill. Kill last guy

b) Throw left bone and right bone simultaneosly and grab middle guy while the gone

Muraha

If you want to do one encounter at a time:

1. throw both bones simultaneously and back up. Pull the center mob while the sides are away.

2. throw either the left or right bones (just one). Pull the opposite side encounter.

3. Kill the last remaining encounter.

If you're getting the other werewolves after pulling the middle one your raid is too close to their spawn locations when they return. Hug the door. It sounds like you got most of it down, just keep trying things and figuring it out.

You can throw one bone and pull 4 of them and be fine. with 6 healers we pull all six at once and kill them. It can be a bit ruff till you get one down but we spike damage the frist two so you can slow the heal rotation after that.

like someone said above, the barrel is for the "blackwater mask" quest, but don't just blow up the 1st wall you see ... if you do are likely welcome by four 74 x4 Werewolfs!!! Have a look around for a dead boody you can examain and pick an item off ... you surely find out what to do with it

I don't raid in EQ2, but have in previous MMO's I've played, and I think it is VERY commendable, and impressive that your raid didn't look for guidance or hints until after trying things yourselves.

The main reason I gave up raiding is because it wasn't fun for me to just 'follow the scripts/walkthroughs' some others have done.

I don't have the time to play to be in a guild that is among 'the first' to do things...that would be fun!! And the method most everyone else seems to use is to read up on all the tips and strategies others who've gone before and go in with a fully scripted plan of attack. Booooring.

So, Kudos to you and your allies! You folks rock in my book.

There are many ways to deal with certain scripting. Example some raids kill the adds on the Taranix fight and some raids mez the adds. I think you can look what some folks do and then use that to develope what works for your raid. Some folks split Lord V and prime with a chanter some leash one off, some tank both. I have seen a raid have a guardian out of the raid pull prime and the raid pull lord V even.

Raid make up has plenty to do with it. So while the scripting is the same for everyone, how you deal with the scripting and where you fight the mobs is very much different for just about everyone I would think.
