Cheers folks!

I've been duoing a Warden with my friend's Berserker, up until level 40. But I happen to have an old Mystic that I like, that's been parked at 42 for who knows how long. So I was thinking, if it's worthwhile to swap out the Warden with the Mystic.

But when I compare skills, the Mystic doesn't seem anywhere near as useful (atleast in a group of two) as the Warden. The Warden has Teleport spells and an Evac, which are very useful. Now even his SoW is faster (+25% from AA, as opposed to +20%). I've AA-specced the Warden to do really good Melee damage aswell, and he's basically outdamaging the Berserker.

In a group of two, both have to have a decent damage output if you are to bring anything down. But I fear the Mystic just won't live up to it... If he just better suited for end-game raiding?

Have I missed something with the Mystic? Sure, he's in Chain, but he's not going to tank. I kind of think of him as a Healer/Debuffer more than anything, as opposed to the Warden Healer/Nuker/Utility abilities. What are your opinions?

I enjoy my Mystic a great deal however, I'd agree with your assessment for basically all the reasons you already noted. The only time where you might miss a Mystic is on a very hard fight. Shaman can lay down single target healage (wards) like mad. We can do OK dps with the right AA spec but I've not experienced anything that makes me think it's equal to a druid yet. The vast majority of the time I think you'll be better off with the warden as a duo partner as they are just a bit better equipped for that type of a setup. Mystics are outstanding in a full group. Oh, my guess is you'll find your zerker will start to out dps you more as they get into and past their 50s. That's when they get some of their best AE damage type abilities. You wouldn't be doing anything wrong or be horribly gimped with the Mystic but they just don't have the same toolset for a duo that a druid does in my book.

As a mystic who's done TONS of duoing with a berserker, I freely admit having evac would be awesome sometimes (frequently). The teleports will be huge. I know I have loved them when duoing with a necro on my fury.

I don't know about lower levels but as a paritally aa melee speced mystic at higher levels I frequently outdamage(and out heal) druids of both varieties in groups. I've no idea what the druids are doing, so they might just be slacking though.

I think a mystic might work better on harder content than a warden, but with typical content those evacs and ports really are huge time savers. I definatly survive better than the druids when agro comes my way but still.

In the end you might as well play the one you enjoy the most, mystic or warden. You could dust off the mystic and play that one for an evening or 2 and see how it works out, if the downfalls annoy you, then head back to your warden.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll actually try the Mystic for a round or two, just to see how we'll fare.

I have a mystic and warden on a pvp server. When they were in their 20's, I figured I would end up liking one more and scrapping the other. They are now both level locked in their 50's...And I still don't know which I like playing better. I mainly duo with my wizzy wife and we tend to do quests, named killing, and of course, pvp. For most stuff, both do fine in their own right. Here's my take...

My melee-specced mystic really helps the dps. And the debuffs allow us to take down the harder Nameds. And I find keeping wards on wizard a lil easier than healing these clothies, esp in pvp. But this would be different if you duo with a plate tank.

On the other hand, my warden can handle multiple adds with ease by rooting. And roots are priceless with the multiple-group-Nameds as well as in pvp. Also, porting really makes life easier (i.e. GOD quests). But his dps sucks. I have not used evac since they disallowed it in pvp.

I know this reply is a cop out...But with the mystic vs warden question...the jury is still out.

I cannot give you any reason to play a warden, since i never have, but I will list why I love playing my mystic.

I am level 70 with 100 AA on Venekor PvP server. PvP groups love me If I have a good tank that can keep the freeps off of me, I can pretty much keep a group up for a very long time. (This saying its a standard group and not a 5 scout, 1 healer group)

If I am not on, raids usually don't happen, or they don't go nearly as well.

Melee specced I can put out 1200+ DPS on raids (hit 1249 on one fight in deathtoll tonight.)

I can make just about any class into a tank. This isn't against all mobs, but I have duoed all pf PoA with a Zerker, a swashie, and wizard on different occasions with them pulling/tanking and me healing/DPS.

At least on my server, there is an over abundance of wardens. meaning I'm a rare breed.
