View Full Version : LU32 introduces fairly serious rendering issues?

Cloaks are all over the place.. while mounted they seem to become some sort of windshield, and on foot they are now wielded as a shield instead of draping from our backs.

My friend's character is now sleeveless, and gloveless.. they simply don't render anymore. His sleeves are orcish brigadine or something like that. Not sure about the gloves. He tried on a different pair of sleeves and they rendered ok. His breastplate is completely corrupted.. we see shreds of it but that's it.

I also notice the client takes longer to start up, and significantly longer to release its resources on /exit. I don't mind these longer load and unload times if it improved performance. But the rendering issues seem quite blatant.

I noticed it taking longer to shut down a patch or two ago.

I haven't noticed any rendering issues, but then, I'm using an nVida card, which seems to sponsor Sony :-p

Are you using nVidia or ATI?

I saw my cloak freak out and attach itself to my right arm once. But it skipped back in 5 seconds. So I thinkt here is something funky going on somewhere, like pointers being shuffled somehow.

Didn't seem to affect all cloaks, and didn't affect mine (at least to my view). I spent around 8 hours on-line yesterday and spotted around 5 or 6 wierd cloak issues - agree that it looks like a shield held out in front of the right hand (actually, first toon I saw with this was a Ratatonga who looked like he was carrying a surfboard!).

I've not seen the cloak or armor problems as others here but InvisiMobs are WAY worse for me then they ever where. I even have NPC's that never load let alone take forever to display visually.. *Sigh*

Yea, I have noticed as well, graphics getting messed up.

Cloaks flying all over the place, infront of the toon, along side the toon. POF walking through the floor when it gets hilly Invisable mobs are worse now

nVidia here too... and I'm seeing the "cloaks as shields" pretty often, and NPC's and mobs are slower to render than ever. I've more or less given up playing my low level alt because the frustration level is too high.

Somehow part of the dev team have got the wrong end of the stick about what has been the root cause of the invisi-mobs/npcs etc since that big performance patch, because every time its supposed to be addressed it in fact gets worse for many people (for my gf after this update its much worse with npcs joining mobs in the invisible world). And yet some of us have perfect rendering at all times.

It really was better 6 months ago than it is now, which is sad.

It's been well-documented that nVidia users have had the most problems running EQ2 since release, BY FAR. That sponsorship thing has NOTHING to do with working closely together; it's just an ad plug. Notice that so far everyone in this thread who is experiencing the issue reports having an nVidia? Myself included.

And yes, I agree with other posters that the delayed NPC rendering became significantly worse in this patch as well. It generally has gotten significantly worse for me with each patch since I started playing, and it is getting to the point where it really impacts my enjoyment of the game. I don't quite understand why SOE's devs continue to make it worse each patch tho?? Also, as was stated in another thread, it seems to be limited to particular NPC models, not a general phenomenon. For example I now have it terrible with the broker in Kelethin, but have no issues with any NPC in Qeynos.

I have the same issue here.

although the cloaks fix themselfs eventualy

i first noticed it about 3 weeks ago when i had to switch out ram in my computer and was only running on 512 megs, back then the cloaks would never fix themselfs, now with more ram , whenever someone walks into my field of vision the cloaks are infront of them sideways and then atach to their backs properly

It is very slow shutting down after this patch. It use to shut down real quick now takes a good amount of time.

I'm on an ATI Radeon 9700 and every now and then I seem to be wielding my cloak like a shield, so yeah, I know what you're talking about. And I'm seeing that happen on other players quite a bit now, too, and not just fairies.

I'm having the rendering problems as well, and have been having them for quite awhile now. It's very frustrating to run along a seemingly barren area, to find that I've aggro'd alot of mobs.

Also, last night I would call for my horse, the buff icon would appear, but the horse would not, as if i were inside a dungeon. A few mins later, the horse would show up, and I'd be standing on top of the horse's saddle. Few seconds later I'll sit down. Makes for an odd trip.

And Iksar capes still stick up like a board while swimming

ATI card here, as well. I've been seeing the cloak thing, too. Weird. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that my performance settings when I logged in after the patch were different than when I logged out the night before. And that could be the difference in percieved performance pre and post patch. I reset mine back to where they belong and performance seems to be what it should be. Except for the cloak thing.

I am not so sure that Sony and Nvidia still don't have some sort of "understanding" Sony uses NVidia GPUs in their Viao machines...

I use only Nvidia and my froglok ranger currently has a cloak/shield semi-wrapped around her body.

Rendering is noticeably slower.

Something is definitely wrong with GU32.

I'm on 2x Nvidia 8800 GTX in SLI mode, using the latest drivers (as of two weeks ago anyway, when I built my new system). Not sure if CPU matters, but on an Intel quad core CPU also.

Anyway, only seen it once, but a couple days ago someone on a horse at the broker had the "cloak-windshield" effect, described by the OP. Almost wish I'd taken a screenshot. Haven't seen it since on anyone, mounted or walking..but yes I've seen it also.

I've been having the rendering problem ever since the DEV team added Tradskilling machines outside TS instances along with periodic unrendered doors. Not my Machine, I have Titan Quest, Oblivion and Neverwinter Nights 2 being played on this rig with 0% crashes and 0% rendering problems. It's JUST EQ2 and their rendering optimizations screwing things up IMPO. Tell you the ironic truth, EQ2 ran better for me at it's LAUNCH date at higher settings than it does now... true story.

in some places I can run half wy through to the other side without having MOBs appear, if I stop running I'm dead due to the aggro from the mobs that suddenly pop though....

please, oh plese fix this aweful problem we're having
