No doubt the parry.

My guess would be parry. But you won't really know until you do some testing. Maybe someone has already tested this and can provide some feedback on the results.

- 50 is supposedly = to reducing your opponents attack skill by 10 levels. Notice that you get 5 points into a skill per level.... but really it does not seem to equate that way. I had Neurotoxic coating at 8 before... it really didnt help. But if i got my avoidance up it seemed to make a better difference. Predators in defensive stance gain agi, +parry, +defense. I guess in defensive stance u can get your avoidance really high esp if u use a shield. Adorn a slash weapon with a balanecd ayre stone, and get +to block adornments on your shield( 3 % if u adorn your shield, and two bracelets). I was able to raise my avoidance up to 64% self buffed, but the last patched nerfed my avoidance to around 59.4%. On PvE mobs, this really high avoidance makes a HUGE difference if your FACING the mob. Most predator avoidance works off frontal(the ayre stone allows you to parry 4 quadrants though! but only at 2% or w/e). Umm... in terms of PvP... your opponent is gonna miss a lot with Auto attacks, but their CA's will land because of toHit modifiers on CA's. Also dont forget resists if u plan on tanking. Some mobs cast or have damage shields.

I didn't even notice the nerf, but I did notice my wife (Templar) yelling at me because my HPs were dropping a lot faster than before.

Thanks for the replies so far. Last night I checked my avoidance (59%) and started down the neurotoxic route. I'll test it first and then use my free respec to try using parry. Another influence in the decision is the abilities that come after each of these. Next on the Str line is Melee crits, next on the Int is Spell/Poison crits. This leads to the final ability choice having an effect too. Int final line seems much more useful. I'd like the neurotixic route to work out as this ability line is better for me. But if not and we find outselves duoing more, then Parry will do.

Well, if your going to be meleeing a lot dont expect your poisons to go off alot and take advantage of poison crits, unless u have a wurmslayer or GDoH in your primary. Otherwise i would go with Str for crits and parry. I don't know i just never liked the int line for tanking. But please test and tell us ofyour results!

It was a double nerf actually. At first they lowered chance to parry and block, then they removed benefit for using leather or cloth armor... I droped from 73 avoidance to 60 I dont think that is now possible to get to 70% avoidance anymore (selfbuffed), even with 4-4-8 str, wis, int line...
